This first suggestion is brand new, or at least this music video of Safri Duo performing the classic Carol of the Bells is. I confess I've never liked this song; it's never struck me as having a Christmas sound. It sounds more like Halloween to me, haha, but I inevitably end up hearing it every December. These past few days I've finally had to learn it, and maybe now I'll appreciate the four-part choral version more. Although I've always liked Safri Duo's music, perhaps we should give their new EP, Xmas, a chance; it's only been out for two weeks.

Les confieso que nunca me ha gustado esta canción, nunca me ha parecido que tenga un sonido navideño, más bien se me asemeja más a Halloween jajaja, pero eventualmente me toca oírla colada cada Diciembre. Estos días me la he tenido que aprender al fin, y quizás ahora le tome más cariño a la versión coral a cuatro voces, aunque la música de Safri Duo siempre me ha gustado, quizás debamos darle una oportunidad a su nuevo EP Xmas, que a penas tiene dos semanas de ser lanzado. Esta es la versión que estoy haciendo con 15 de mis compañeros cantantes:

I really need to give my Mariah Carey version of "O Holy Night" a break, the one I bring you every year for #TTT, but that's my favorite. Of course, there are many other versions, and I listen to them all because this is one of my favorite songs for this time of year. I've never recommended anything by Carrie Underwood before, but besides being an American Idol winner, she has many Christmas songs, an album, and some singles, all beautifully performed and very elegant. I recommend listening to the special edition of her album, "My Gift." I'm also sharing this version by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which is a bit closer to the choral recording I'll have this afternoon.

Ya necesito darle un descanso a la versión de O Holy Night de Mariah Carey que les traigo cada año en #TTT, pero es que esa es mi versión preferida. Claro que existen muchas otras versiones y todas las escucho porque esta es una de mis canciones preferidas para estas fechas. Carrie Underwood, nunca había recomendado nada de ella, pero además de ser una de las ganadoras de American Idol, tiene muchas canciones navideñas, un álbum y algunos sencillos sueltos, todo bien interpretado y muy elegante, recomiendo que escuchen el disco My Gift en su versión especial. También les dejo esta versión del Coro del Tabernáculo Mormón, un poco más parecido a la grabación coral que tendré esta tarde.

I'm finishing with "Do You Hear What I Hear" because it's one of the least explored Christmas songs for me, and it's really the only one I had to learn from scratch. Don't blame me; pop stars have ignored this song as much as I have. In fact, maybe I don't identify with it because they never record it. It may not be commercial enough to warrant bringing it into this era, but it's still beautiful. Whitney Houston's version seems to be the most beloved of all, and Pentatonix, with their vocals and musical arrangement, made it very similar to the version we'll record today. So, I'll also share Bing Grosby's version, the only one I've always listened to, which has such a special atmosphere that it makes you want to leave it as is and not do anything new to alter it. Give this beautiful Christmas song a chance...

Termino con Do You Hear What I Hear porque es una de la canciones menos exploradas para mí en navidad, y realmente es la única que tuve que aprenderme desde cero. No me culpen, las estrellas del pop han ignorado esta canción tanto como yo, de hecho quizás yo no me identifico con ella por causa de ellos mismos que nunca la graban. Posiblemente no sea tan comercial como para traerla hasta esta época, pero sigue siendo hermosa. La versión que hizo Whitney Houston parece ser la más querida de todos, y Pentatonix con sus voces y arreglo musical la hizo muy parecida a la idea que grabaremos hoy, así que solo les compartiré adicionalmente la versión de Bing Grosby, la única que siempre he escuchado, y que tiene una atmósfera tan especial que provoca dejarla así y no hacer nada nuevo para deformarla.
