The Christmas Choral Repertoire Begins

Happy Tuesday everyone! A week ago, during the #TTT challenge, I mentioned that we'd be recording Christmas music in English. It's not a project with my choir; it's a chamber choir project with only 16 singers, although I admit most of us come from the same place 😅 We went to the recording studio without knowing who we'd be recording the backing vocals for, but now that I know, and I've become a huge fan in just a week, we still have to wait for the official release before sharing any details.

¡Feliz Martes para todos!. Hace una semana en la dinámica #TTT les comenté que estaríamos grabando música navideña en inglés. No es un proyecto de mi agrupación coral, es un trabajo de coro de cámara de solo 16 cantantes, aunque acepto que la mayoría de esos cantantes venimos del mismo lugar 😅 Fuimos al estudio de grabación aún sin saber quien era la persona a quien le íbamos a grabar los coros, pero ahora que lo sé y que me he convertido en un gran fan en solo una semana, igual tenemos que esperar la publicación del mismo antes de dar cualquier detalle.

This recording is going straight to Los Angeles, as the singer is building her career in the United States, and although she doesn't specialize in Christmas music, it will be an interesting symphonic and choral project with her... I've had the opportunity to record on several projects, especially in the last two years, but there's something magical about doing it with a chamber choir. The process took place in a single afternoon. If it had been the full choir, it would have taken longer because it's not easy to get 90 people to blend perfectly in the first takes, and if there were only 5 of us, as happened to me once in this same studio, then everyone's individual quirks start to emerge, which we have to correct along the way 😅

Esta grabación va directamente a Los Ángeles, ya que la cantante hace carrera en los Estados Unidos, y aunque no se dedica a hacer música navideña, será un interesante trabajo sinfónico y coral junto a ella... He tenido la oportunidad de grabar en varios proyectos, especialmente en estos últimos dos años, pero hay algo mágico en hacerlo con un coro de cámara. El proceso se llevó a cabo en una sola tarde, si fuera la coral completa habríamos tardado mas porque no es fácil que 90 personas encajen a perfección en las primeras tomas, y si fuéramos solo 5 personas, como me pasó una vez en este mismo estudio entonces comienzan a salir las peculiaridades de cada persona que hay que ir corrigiendo en el camino 😅

Another thing I mentioned last week is that I was unlikely to do any more Christmas music, since we didn't have anything scheduled with the choir. But this tiger summoned the Christmas spirit, and in just a few hours, we're going to dust off the repertoire from the album we recorded last year to do some Christmas performances before the end of this holiday season. It's good to have faith, my friends; mine came true, haha. I love Christmas choral music, and although from today on, I'll only be performing traditional Venezuelan repertoire, nothing can take away my excitement from having had a week of northern Christmas carols like O Holy Night, The Little Drummer Boy, Carol of the Bells, and Do You Hear What I Hear... I'm eager to hear the final result and share it here with you on Hive 🙏

Otra cosa que les comenté la semana pasada es que difícilmente haría más música navideña, ya que no teníamos nada programado con la coral, pero este tigre llamó a la energía de la navidad y ya en unas horas vamos a desempolvar el repertorio de disco que grabamos el año pasado para hacer algunas presentaciones navideñas antes de culminar este periodo de fin de año. Es bueno tener fe mi gente, a mí se me cumplió jajaja, amo la música coral navideña, y aunque a partir de hoy solo me acompañará el repertorio tradicional venezolano, nadie me quita mi emoción de haber tenido una semana de villancicos del norte como O Holy Night, The Little Drummer Boy, Carol Of The Bells y Do You Hear What I Hear... Ansioso por escuchar el resultado final y compartirlo acá con ustedes en Hive 🙏
