Nuestro Concierto en Úbeda, España

Today is #tbt Thursday!. With great joy I invite you to play the video above, and that exciting and energetic music that you can appreciate marked a very important moment for both my choral group and for me. Our concert at the Auditorio Hospital Santiago de Úbeda in Spain was the second of the tour, but the first one we all agreed it was powerful and of high musical level, the first concert in Badajoz was also good, but I think we all connected with this renaissance city, perfect to sing the sacred repertoire we had up our sleeves.

Con mucha alegría les invito a reproducir el video de arriba, y es que esa emocionante y enérgica música que pueden apreciar marcó un momento muy importante tanto para mi agrupación coral como para mí. Nuestro concierto en el Auditorio Hospital Santiago de Úbeda en España fue el segundo de la gira, pero el primero en que todos estuvimos de acuerdo que fue potente y de alto nivel musical, el primer concierto en Badajoz también estuvo bien, pero creo que todos conectamos con esta ciudad renacentista, perfecta para cantar el repertorio sacro que traíamos bajo la manga.

The work that you can listen to in this video is called The Conversion of Saul, and refers to the apostle Paul. This music represents the anger and persecution against Christians and then the moment when God speaks to Saul and he has a total conversion of faith, so the chords and the rhythm is very furious at the beginning, then the baritones imitate the voice of God and at the end it ends up as one of the most heavenly and sublime works regarding sound. This particular hall was very kind to the sound, both the fast and the slow part, and it highlighted the fury of the choir's footsteps that always surprise the audience and that day the bounce of our footsteps on the floor also caused impact to us, it was simply a perfect moment...

La obra que pueden escuchar en este video se llama The Conversion of Saul, y hace referencia al apóstol Pablo. Esta música representa la ira y la persecución contra los cristianos y luego el momento en que Dios habla con Saulo y tiene una conversión de fe total, por eso los acordes y el ritmo es muy furioso al inicio, luego los barítonos imitan la voz de Dios y al final termina como una de las obras más celestiales y sublimes respecto a sonido. Esta sala en particular fue muy amable con el sonido, tanto la parte rápida como la parte lenta, y resaltaba la furia de las pisadas del coro que siempre sorprenden al público y eso día el rebote de nuestras pisadas en el suelo también nos causó impacto a nosotros, sencillamente fue un momento perfecto...

Another experience that made this concert memorable was our arrangement in the hall. Unlike the concert at the Palacio de Congresos in Badajoz, in this auditorium we did not all enter in our normal order. Some altos and tenors had to sing in a higher area so that we could all enter, and the piano was not always used, but could not be moved from its position. Another characteristic is that all the tickets for the audience were sold out, we even had people behind us on the sides, as you can see in the pictures, that exposes us more and raises the concentration of the group.

Otra experiencia que hizo memorable este concierto fue nuestra disposición en la sala. A diferencia del concierto en el Palacio de Congresos de Badajoz, en este auditorio no entrábamos todos en nuestro orden normal. Algunas contraltos y algunos tenores tuvieron que cantar en una zona más elevada para que pudiéramos entrar todos, además, el piano no se usó siempre, pero no se podía mover de su posición. Otra característica es que se vendieron todas las entradas para el público, incluso tuvimos personas detrás de nosotros en los laterales, como pueden apreciar en las fotografías, eso nos expone más y eleva la concentración de la agrupación.

Our concert in Úbeda is in my personal top 3 of the tour in Spain. We gave 100% that night, we even fooled the audience, we went out into the courtyard pretending that the concert was over and did one last song scattered around the large courtyard of this cultural complex, around the central fountain, and that was another special moment that ended up making us fall in love with a perfect musical work. Undoubtedly unrepeatable moments, an experience of a single day that has remained eternal in my mind and heart ❤️

Nuestro concierto en Úbeda está en mi top 3 personal de la gira por España. Dimos el 100% esa noche, incluso engañamos al público, salimos al patio simulando que el concierto había terminado e hicimos una última canción dispersos por el gran patio de este complejo cultural, al rededor de la fuente central, y ese fue otro momento especial que terminó de enamorarnos de un trabajo musical perfecto. Sin duda alguna momentos irrepetibles, una experiencia de un solo día que ha quedado eterna en mi mente y corazón ❤️
