Our Concert in San Antonio de los Altos

Happy start to the week everyone! We're kicking off our anniversary month with some great music. Yesterday, May 2nd, we performed a concert at the El Sistema center in San Antonio de los Altos, Miranda State, Venezuela, where we played some of the pieces that will be featured in our anniversary concert on May 16th. Just performing outside of Caracas means a lot to us, especially to me, as I love to travel and discover new places. This event took place at the Vidal González Municipal Theater.

The Altos Mirandinos choir is celebrating its 20th anniversary, as is the Simón Bolívar National Choir, which will be celebrating 20 years of artistic achievement this May 6th. It was wonderful to receive this invitation and sing in such an emblematic place for the state of Miranda. I didn't have the opportunity to take as many photos as I would have liked; time was very tight, and the most important thing was to make the music shine. The entire audience consisted of musicians, choir members, and, of course, the families of the choir members who come from this Venezuelan state. So, as always, the videos are courtesy of the mothers who are always there supporting us from the seats.

The music you can hear in the video I've edited for you includes Salve Regina by the Catalan composer Josep Vila, Only In Sleep by the Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds, and the Venezuelan classic Habladurías by Antonio Estévez, featuring my colleague Almer Piaspam as a soloist. Concerts like this make us stronger as a group, since we sing far from home and adapt to different acoustics, and in fact, the theater's acoustics were impressive. Without a doubt, this is one of those experiences I'd love to repeat soon. I know we'll be reading each other's posts in this community many times during May and beyond, as we have a full schedule with the start of our 20th Anniversary, so I'll be back here on my blog soon 😉
