My Musical Destinations! [Eng-Esp]

This first photograph was taken by my dad somewhere in the Andes in Trujillo, Venezuela. The boy next to me is my brother, and although it looks like a family trip, it turns out that it was a musical trip, part of a tour with the Aragua Bar Association Choir, where my dad was the director until the end of his days. This #tbt that I share with you today is from 2012 and 2013, the time when my dad asked me for help to sing as a tenor in two of his groups; what he never knew is that I actually received the help, since this was the impetus I needed to move out of my city and start a career as a professional musician in Caracas.

Esta primera fotografía la tomó mi papá en algún lugar de Los Andes en Trujillo, Venezuela. El chico que sale a mi lado es mi hermano, y aunque parece un viaje familiar resulta que era un viaje musical, parte de una gira con la Coral del Colegio de Abogados de Aragua, donde mi papá fue el director hasta el fin de sus días. Este #tbt que les comparto el día de hoy son de los años 2012 y 2013, la época donde mi papá me pidió ayuda para cantar como tenor en dos de sus agrupaciones; lo que él nunca supo es que realmente la ayuda la recibí yo, ya que este fue el impulso que me faltaba para mudarme de mi ciudad y comenzar una carrera como músico profesional en Caracas.

I didn't know this video existed, I found it a few hours ago on youtube while I was putting my files in order to write this post, and it has made me very happy to remember it ❤️ That concert was in Lara State in 2012. The man directing the choir is my dad and I don't know if you recognize me in the men's row behind the girls. We are singing a choral arrangement of Amor de Conuco by Juan Luis Guerra. Those robes are horrible, it's something very characteristic of choirs during the history of music, but thank God now we wear the best finery in the musical institution where I sing as a tenor 😎

No sabía que este video existía, lo encontré hace unas horas en youtube mientras ponía mis archivos en orden para escribir esta publicación, y me ha hecho muy feliz rememorarlo ❤️ Ese concierto fue en el Estado Lara en el año 2012. El hombre que dirige al coro es mi papá y no sé si alcancen a reconocerme a mí en la fila de hombres detrás de las chicas. Estamos cantando un arreglo coral de Amor de Conuco de Juan Luis Guerra. Esas batas son horribles, es algo muy característico de los coros durante la historia de la música, pero gracias a Dios ahora usamos las mejores galas en la institución musical donde canto como tenor 😎

This was the first time I met the State of Lara, the picture you can see above are in the Lomas de Cubiro, a magical and very high place where we had one of our concerts. Traveling with my dad as choral director and with my brother as Baritone was very special the two years I did it, what a pity that my mom did not sing in these groups because it would have been much more special. Barquisimeto, capital of Lara State, made me fall in love with it from the first time, and that picture above is in the Flor de Venezuela, a building in the shape of an orchid. That day it was closed and in fact I have never been able to see it open, it is one of my current dreams and one of the most wonderful places I have ever known.

Esta fue la primera vez que conocí el Estado Lara, la fotografía que pueden apreciar arriba son en las Lomas de Cubiro, un lugar mágico y muy alto donde tuvimos uno de nuestros conciertos. Viajar con mi papá como director coral y con mi hermano como Barítono fue muy especial los dos años que lo hice, que lastima que mi mamá no cantaba en estas agrupaciones porque habría sido mucho más especial. Barquisimeto, Capital del Estado Lara me enamoró desde la primer vez, y esa fotografía de arriba es en la Flor de Venezuela, una edificación en forma de orquídea. Esa día estaba cerrada y de hecho nunca la he podido ver abierta, es uno de mis sueños actuales y uno de los lugares más maravillosos que he conocido.

These pictures below are a year later when we went to Trujillo in 2013, of course I was much happier because they thought of the uniforms and it was part of that historic moment where they stopped wearing the long blue coats. The girls got these beautiful outfits and each one chose the color she liked the most. The men of course were happy just to wear black.

Estas fotografías de abajo si son un año después cuando fuimos a Trujillo en 2013, por supuesto yo estaba mucho más feliz porque pensaron en los uniformes y fue parte de ese momento histórico donde se dejaron de usar las largas batas azules. Las chicas se consiguieron estos hermosos atuendos y cada una eligió el color que más le gustaba. Los hombres por supuesto fuimos felices con el simple hecho de vestir de negro.

All the musical tours I have had have left me many friends in different parts of Venezuela. I have been to Lara State many times already, but this was the only time I have been to Trujillo and boy, those friends are still people I talk to at least through Facebook. Most of the Bar Associations in Venezuela have a choir. They are not musicians exactly, they are lawyers who like to sing and generally are people with voices that are already over 40 or 50 years old, my brother and I were just starting our 20s in these images, but we earned a special affection from everyone for being children of the director and for the sonorous contribution we made.

Todas las giras musicales que he tenido me han dejado muchos amigos en diversas partes de Venezuela. Al Estado Lara he ido muchas veces ya, pero esta fue la única vez que he ido a Trujillo y vaya que esos amigos siguen siendo personas con las que hablo al menos a través de Facebook. La mayoría de los Colegios de Abogados en Venezuela tienen una coral. No son músicos precisamente, son abogados que les gusta cantar y generalmente son personas con voces que ya pasan de 40 o 50 años, mi hermano y yo a penas comenzábamos nuestros 20 en estas imágenes, pero nos ganamos un cariño especial de todos por ser hijos del director y por el aporte sonoro que hacíamos.

In these musical meetings where several choirs gathered once a year there were concerts in remote areas, a main gala event, a lot of tourism and a party at the end of it all, I only participated in two occasions, but I value what I learned in these two years and it was an important time where my dad was my Music Teacher.

En estos encuentros musicales donde se reunían varias corales una vez al año había conciertos en zonas remotas, un evento de gala principal, mucho turismo y una fiesta al final de todo, solo participé en dos ocasiones, pero valoro lo que aprendí en estos dos años y fue una época importante donde mi papá fue mi Maestro de Música.
