Although life and the passing of the years have taken me away from one of my great passions, there is no doubt that I was always a collector by nature. As a child I didn't have enough space to keep all my obsessions in my room and now as an adult I don't have the time to continue to keep them, so they have been transformed and my new collections are not tangible. In the past I have collected from books to beautiful rocks, there was always something to add and show proudly to everyone, but none has ever been as important as this one that I bring you today, my only tangible collection that remains in time and that brings together two passions such as collecting and my beloved Shakira...

Aunque la vida y el paso de los años me ha apartado de una de mis grandes pasiones, no cabe duda de que siempre fui un coleccionista por naturaleza. De pequeño no tenía el espacio suficiente para guardar todas mis obsesiones en mi cuarto y ahora de grande no tengo el tiempo para continuar manteniéndolas, así que se han transformado y mis nuevas colecciones no son tangibles. En el pasado he coleccionado desde libros hasta rocas hermosas, siempre había algo para sumar y mostrar orgullosamente a todos, pero nunca ninguna ha sido tan importante como esta que hoy les traigo, mi única colección tangible que se mantiene en el tiempo y que reúne dos pasiones como lo son coleccionar y mi amada Shakira...

Actually the cover photo of this post and this second one above don't do glory to my collection of Shakira related articles, but both summarize the most important albums and the 4 dvd's of the 5 that I should have of her career, because yes. I'm missing Shakira's last concert called El Dorado World Tour. Believe it or not, among so many things you hear about Venezuela, one reality is that the international music industry disappeared here for a long time. Since the economic crises worsened in 2016 international artists stopped placing my country as a stop on their world tours and yes, the records didn't make it to the stores either. In fact already in 2023 I dare to say that the record stores died in Venezuela, although there is one or another person with some clandestine business that manages to bring something and make happy music collectors like me.

En realidad la fotografía de portada de este post y esta segunda de arriba no e hacen gloria a mi colección de artículos relacionados a Shakira, pero ambas resumen los discos más importantes y los 4 dvd de los 5 que debería tener de su trayectoria, porque sí. Me falta la último concierto de Shakira que se llama El Dorado World Tour. Aunque no lo crean, entre tantas cosas que escuchan de Venezuela, una realidad es que la industria musical internacional desapareció aquí por largo tiempo. Desde que las crisis económica empeoró en 2016 los artistas internacionales dejaron de colocar a mi país como una parada en sus giras mundiales y sí, los discos tampoco llegaban a las tiendas. De hecho ya en 2023 me atrevo a decir que murieron las disco tiendas en Venezuela, aunque hay una que otra persona con algún negocio clandestino que logra traer algo y hacer feliz a coleccionistas musicales como yo.

In retrospect it is not justified that I am missing this last album after so many years; there are always ways to get what you want, but I am not very skilled in online shopping, besides, none of the people who sell records in their stores have brought a copy of this one (as far as I know). Friends who told me they would come to Venezuela finally do not come or do not bring me the album and others have not wanted to buy it and send it to me and well, most importantly, those who know me know how eventful my life has been in recent years and the constant work I have, I often forget that I am a fan and that I lack a child to complete my collection. I'm close to have a trip, I hope it will be a great moment to match that dvd disc I'm missing. But the truth is that I was always very dedicated, for example see the picture above, these two albums are the first Shakira's albums, Magia from 1991 and Peligro from 1993, only released in Colombia. They only exist in vinyl, 10 inches; although I love them and they are necessary for collectors, they visually messed up my collection, so with some friends I managed to adapt them to this digital format and with the same size of the rest of the collection, so this pair is not original, but I proudly show them as a great achievement for me and they look great next to their brothers.

En retrospectiva no se justifica que me falte este último álbum después de tantos años; siempre hay maneras de lograr lo que se quiere, pero no soy muy diestro en las compras por internet, además, ninguna de las personas que venden discos en sus negocios ha traído una copia de este (que yo sepa). Amigos que me decían que vendrían a Venezuela finalmente no vienen o no me traen el disco y otros no me lo han querido comprar y mandarlo y bueno, lo más importante, quienes me conocen saben lo accidentada que ha sido mi vida los últimos años y el trabajo constante que tengo, muchas veces olvido que soy fan y que me falta un hijo para completar mi colección. Estoy cercano a tener un viaje, espero sea un gran momento para coincidir con ese disco dvd que me falta. Pero la verdad es que siempre fui muy dedicado, por ejemplo vean la foto de arriba, estos dos álbumes son los primeros discos de Shakira, Magia de 1991 y Peligro de 1993, solo publicados en Colombia. Ellos solo existen en vinilo, de 10 pulgadas; aunque los amo y son necesarios para los coleccionistas, me descuadraban visualmente la colección, así que con unos amigos logré adaptarlos a este formato digital y con el mismo tamaño del resto de la colección, así que este par no es original, pero orgullosamente los muestro como un gran logro para mí y se ven geniales junto a sus hermanos.

These four albums pictured above are the ones that brought international success to the Colombian singer and belong to the era where I got to know her music. They are the albums that consolidated her as a Latin star of worldwide projection. As a child I only had them in cassette format, my parents would never have bought me her music, she was a bad vocal influence for me 🤣 but with the arrival of adolescence I was acquiring my treasures little by little, and here I am more than 20 years later talking about it in Hive, in fact my mom helped me take the pictures.

Estos cuatro discos de la fotografía de arriba son los que le dieron el éxito internacional a la colombiana y pertenecen a la era donde conocí su música. Son los discos que la consolidaron como una estrella latina de proyección mundial. De niño solo los tuve en formato cassette, mis papás jamás me habrían comprado música de ella, era una mala influencia vocal para mí 🤣 pero con la llegada de la adolescencia igual fui adquiriendo mis tesoros poco a poco, y aquí estoy más de 20 años después hablando sobre eso en Hive, de hecho mi mamá me ayudó a tomar las fotos.

By the way, how hard it is to take pictures of music albums, I feel that none of them have turned out well. The glare on the cover makes the job very difficult and it gets worse when you don't have a good space to show them all together and look elegant.... The albums pictured above represent the era where Shakira's career went international as she started singing in English and so did I 🤣 I have the album Laundry Service twice simply because on the English version the tattoo on her arm says that and on the Spanish version the tattoo says "Servicio de Lavandería". The three discs in the back are a special edition of the aforementioned, her live dvd of the concert tour of that era and her first greatest hits album used for the purpose of showing the world that she was not a new artist and already had many Spanish songs up her sleeve.

Por cierto, que difícil es tomar fotografías de álbumes musicales, siento que ninguna ha salido bien. El brillo en la carátula dificulta mucho el trabajo y empeora cuando no tienes un buen espacio para mostrarlos a todos juntos y que se vea elegante... Los discos de la foto de arriba representa la era donde la carrera de Shakira se volvió internacional, ya que comenzó a cantar en inglés y por ende yo también 🤣 Tengo dos veces el álbum Laundry Service simplemente porque en la versión en inglés el tatuaje en su brazo dice eso y en la versión en español el tatuaje dice "Servicio de Lavandería". Los tres discos de atrás son una edición especial del ya mencionado, su dvd en vivo de la gira de conciertos de esa era y su primer disco de grandes éxitos usado con el propósito de mostrarle al mundo que no era una artista nueva y que ya tenía muchas canciones en español bajo la manga.

Oral Fixation... A very special era between me and Shakira... It was 2005 and 2006, she reached the pinnacle of success by placing a song in Spanish at the top of the music charts in the world, she was the first Latina to sing at the Mtv awards, she was the most famous woman in the world for a few minutes when she tasted in the final of the World Cup, they made her a statue, it was declared Shakira day in Colombia, well.... It was a good era for her and I was landing in adult life. In 2005 I was still 17, but I started working at that age to be able to buy Fijación Oral Vol. 1, helping some nuns in church (catholic stuff). Obviously I bought many more and completed my collection to date, now they were all original albums. The real challenge would come in 2006, Shakira would sing in Venezuela and I was already 18, so I looked for a real job, my parents were not going to pay me for that 🤣 and yes, I went to her concert in Caracas and it was one of the best days of my life. In fact my dad had a birthday that day and I felt no regrets hahaha. That little box in the picture above is a special edition that brought both albums and something else, but even Oral Fixation Vol.2, which is where he comes out as Eve in Paradise I have it 3 times. The one you can see in the picture, the one inside the box and the one I didn't post that was the first one that came out without the song Hips Don't Lie, her biggest hit. That woman has made me spend a lot, but I am happy doing it...

Fijación Oral... Una era muy especial entre Shakira y yo... Transcurría el año 2005 y 2006, ella alcanzó la cúspide del éxito colocando una canción en español en la cúspide de las carteleras musicales del mundo, fue la primera latina en cantar en los premios Mtv, fue la mujer más famosa del mundo por unos minutos cuando cató en la final del mundial de futbol, le hicieron una estatua, se declaró el día de Shakira en Colombia, bueno... Fue una buena era para ella y yo aterrizaba e la vida adulta. En 2005 aún tenía 17, pero comencé a trabajar a esa edad para poder comprarme el Fijación Oral Vol. 1, ayudando a unas monjas en la iglesia (cosas de católicos). Obviamente me compré muchos más y completé mi colección hasta la fecha, ahora sí todos eran discos originales. El verdadero reto llegaría en 2006, Shakira cantaría en Venezuela y ya yo tenía 18, así que busqué un trabajo de verdad, mis papás no iban a pagarme eso 🤣 y sí, fui a su concierto en Caracas y fue uno de los mejores días de mi vida. De hecho mi papá cumplía años ese día y no sentí remordimientos jajaja. Esa cajita en la foto de arriba es una edición especial que traía ambos discos y algo más, pero incluso Oral Fixation Vol.2, que es donde sale como Eva en el paraíso lo tengo 3 veces. El que pueden ver en la foto, el que está dentro de la caja y uno que no coloqué que fue el primero que salió sin la canción Hips Don't Lie, su más grande éxito. Esa mujer me ha hecho gastar mucho, pero yo feliz haciéndolo...

Taking out the last dvd of her concert tour, in this last picture above are her albums from 2009 to 2019. An era where Shakira has been more dedicated to being a mother and family, but she never left her career aside and has always had great hits like Waka Waka in 2010, her duet with Rihanna in 2014 or her glorious transition to reggaeton in 2016. She is an artist who knows how to reinvent herself and reach the new young audience and well, since 2020 I am waiting for her next album, I do not like this new way of the music industry where they are releasing songs and at the end is that a music album comes out, that attempts against my collection, but well, she has also been transformed to digital or intangible platforms, so I do not feel the same excitement. Sacando el último dvd de su gira de conciertos, en esta última foto de arriba están sus discos desde 2009 hasta 2019. Una era donde Shakira se ha dedicado más a ser madre y a la familia, pero nunca dejó su carrera de lado y siempre ha tenido grandes éxitos como el Waka Waka en 2010, su dúo con Rihanna en 2014 o su gloriosa transición al reggaetón en 2016. Es una artista que se sabe reinventar y llegar al nuevo público joven y bueno, desde 2020 estoy esperando su próximo disco, no me gusta esta nueva manera de la industria musical donde van sacando canciones y al final es que sale un álbum musical, eso atenta contra mi colección, pero bueno, también ha sido transformada a plataformas digitales o intangibles, por eso no siento la misma emoción. Ya veremos qué nos depara el futuro, pero sé que esta chica me seguirá brindando años de alegría. Aunque ya soy un adulto y muchas cosas han quedado atrás, he tratado de mantener esta pasión, aunque haya canciones que no me gusten mucho como la última que acaba de sacar este mes (siempre digo eso y luego las termino bailando y cantando en Hive) 🤣
