Hive Open Mic | Week 231 | Siyahamba (four voices version)

Greetings to all friends of the Hive Open Mic community! It's been a while since I last participated, but day by day I continue to participate and support my original home within Hive. This week is very exciting, as it's all about paying tribute to African music and especially its musicians, and boy, most of our community members are from Africa, so Afritunes came to continue to unite ties between music content creators.

¡Un saludo a todos los amigos de la comunidad Hive Open Mic!. Ha pasado un tiempo desde la última vez que participé, pero día a día sigo participando y apoyando a mi casa original dentro de Hive. Esta semana es muy emocionante, ya que se trata de homenajear a la música africana y especialmente a sus músicos, y vaya que la mayor parte de los miembros de nuestra comunidad son de África, así que Afritunes llegó para seguir uniendo lazos entre los creadores de contenido musical.

Our community has had many changes in the last year, but I am glad to see that it is still alive and that those who really have a special feeling for it are participating. I believe that one of the secrets of the Hive Open Mic and its success is that not only Global Harmony is sought through music week by week, but the constant presence of God and the faith of so many musicians who exalt Him in their publications, that way we will always be here, multiplying our 231 weeks and with many people who want to collaborate and help the musicians of this humble community. We are not a competition, just a weekly corner to share music based on a theme that unites us in the same feeling.

Nuestra comunidad ha tenido muchos cambios el último año, pero me alegra ver que sigue viva y que participan quienes realmente tienen un sentimiento especial por la misma. Creo que uno de los secretos del Hive Open Mic y su éxito es que no solo se busca la Armonía Global a través de la música semana a semana, sino la presencia constante de Dios y la fe de tantos músicos que lo enaltecen en sus publicaciones, de esa manera siempre estaremos aquí, multiplicando nuestras 231 semanas y con muchas personas que desean colaborar y ayudar a los músicos de esta humilde comunidad. No somos una competencia, solo un rincón semanal para compartir música basados en una temática que nos une en el mismo sentir.

Today I share the four-voice version of the Zulu song “Siyahamba”, one of the musical gems that my dad gave me through the choral repertoire. I remember that I learned all the voices from the very first moment, and although it is usually a more lively song, I like to sing it in this calm rhythm, which makes me think of a prayer with the exquisite African sound. The lyrics say: We walk towards the light of God, and it is repeated over and over again, so it represents my daily feeling. I may not be pronouncing it well as it is a different language than mine, but I felt I should record it and share it with everyone here.

Hoy comparto la versión a cuatro voces de la canción Zulu "Siyahamba", una de las joyas musicales que me regaló mi papá a través del repertorio coral. Recuerdo que me aprendí todas las voces desde el primer momento, y aunque generalmente es una canción más animada, me gusta cantarla en este ritmo calmado, que me hace pensar en una oración con el exquisito sonido africano. La letra dice: Caminamos hacia la luz de Dios, y se repite una y otra vez, así que representa mi sentir diario. Es posible que no la esté pronunciando bien al ser una lengua diferente a la mía, pero sentí que debía grabarla y compartirla con todos aquí.

I hope this version is to everyone's liking. I recorded my video with my Redmi Note 13 Pro + 5G and the edits have been made with Shotcut. I invite the entire community to continue participating in the Hive Open Mic week by week, but without neglecting the quality of their music videos, after all although it is not a competition we have been characterized by extolling the best videos, there are many projects willing to value the musicians of our community, so I invite you to create excellent musical content and continue to grow in this space of Global Harmony.
