Badajoz | Our First Concert in Spain

A week into our international tour I was reviewing on the internet the places we would go to sing in Spain, and definitely the one that caught my attention the most through Google images was the Badajoz Congress Palace. You already know that I am a faithful lover of modern architecture and this place from afar makes a great impression at first sight. The simple fact of knowing that I could sing here inspired me to give my best and make that little dream come true.

A una semana de nuestra gira internacional estuve revisando en internet los lugares a los que iríamos a cantar en España, y definitivamente el que más me llamo la atención a través de las imágenes de Google fue el Palacio de Congresos de Badajoz. Ya saben que soy un fiel amante de la arquitectura moderna y este lugar desde lejos causa mucha impresión a primera vista. El simple hecho de saber que podría cantar aquí me inspiró para dar lo mejor de mi persona y hacer ese pequeño sueño realidad.

When I entered everything was better than I thought. The room has a set of white lights that contrast perfectly with the navy blue seats. The stage is very spacious, in fact the 91 singers of the choir sing very relaxed here and the acoustics are impressively impeccable, I think you could even hear my breathing in the last seat at the end of the theater and few places can achieve this wonderful sound effect .

Cuando entré todo era mejor de lo que pensaba. La sala tiene un juego de luces blancas que contrastan a perfección con las butacas azul marino. La tarima es muy espaciosa, de hecho los 91 cantantes de la coral cantamos muy relajados aquí y la acústica es impresionantemente impecable, creo que se podía escuchar hasta mi respiración en el último asiento al final del teatro y pocos lugares pueden lograr este maravilloso efecto sonoro.

The acoustics helped the choir's sound. Here we have done the most sublime concert so far. We sang all our Renaissance and Baroque sacred pieces, added to Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, so there was no need to make greater vocal effort regarding fortes or pianos, we just let ourselves be enveloped by the sound of our harmonics. It was a wonderful experience to start the tour and there were many Venezuelan people in the audience, in fact a relative of someone we knew in Venezuela was there and we recognized each other just by listening to him speak. 1000% happiness.

La acústica ayudó al sonido de la coral. Aquí hemos hecho el concierto más sublime hasta el momento. Cantamos todas nuestras piezas sacras renacentistas y barrocas, sumado al Requiem de Gabriel Fauré, así que no hubo que hacer mayor esfuerzo vocal respecto a fortes o pianos, solo nos dejamos envolver por el sonido de nuestros armónicos. Fue una experiencia maravillosa para iniciar la gira y en el público hubo muchas personas venezolanas, de hecho un familiar de un conocido en Venezuela estaba ahí y nos reconocimos con el simple hecho de escucharlo hablar. Felicidad al 1000%.
