Join Me to Discover How Big Our Home Musical Instrument Collection Is [Eng-Esp]
Hello everyone. I found this wonderful initiative that @mipiano proposes for Hive Collector and from the first moment I knew it was the ideal activity for me, in fact I have been preparing for several days and finally the time has come. I had no idea how extensive our collection of musical instruments can be, and everything you can see below does not belong only to me, since it is a life of a lot of music that my parents started when they got married almost 40 years ago and now the younger ones continue adding new relics... It all started by opening the following case, the first of a few that I found around, and I have others in Caracas:

Encontré esta maravillosa iniciativa que @mipiano propone para Hive Collector y desde el primer momento supe que era la actividad ideal para mí, de hecho tengo varias días preparándome y al fin ha llegado el momento. No tenía ni remota idea de qué tan extensa puede ser nuestra colección de instrumentos musicales, y todo lo que puedan ver a continuación no me pertenece solo a mí, ya que se trata de una vida de mucha música que iniciaron mis padres cuando se casaron hace casi 40 años y que ahora los más jóvenes continuamos agregando nuevas reliquias... Todo comenzó abriendo el siguiente estuche, el primero de unos cuantos que hallé por ahí, y eso que otros los tengo en Caracas:
The biggest and flashiest thing is always guitars, so I started here. My favorite is my mom's guitar, which was actually my guitar in my attempt to learn to play it before I was in my forties, but I failed. It would have been great to have had it that season because so much free time would have helped me..... Dad had his guitar too, but my mom likes my dad's better and I like hers better because it looks very youthful, unlike the other one which is more classical. Right now it has a broken string, and even though dad is gone his guitar is still the star of the house, but while I was looking to take these pictures I found a black guitar that has the pegs on one side only and that my dad wanted to repair and a blue guitar that I don't know where it came from, but it was love at first sight 😍
Lo más grande y llamativo siempre son las guitarras, así que comencé por aquí. Mi favorita es la guitarra de mi mamá, que de hecho fue mi guitarra en mi intento de aprender a tocarla antes de la cuarentena, pero fracasé. Habría sido genial haberla tenido esa temporada porque tanto tiempo libre me habría ayudado... Papá también tenía su guitarra, pero a mi mamá le gusta más la de mi papá y a mí la de ella porque se ve muy juvenil, a diferencia de la otra que es más clásica. Justo ahora tiene una cuerda rota, y aunque papá no está la guitarra de él sigue siendo la estrella de la casa, pero mientras busqué para tomar estas fotos encontré una guitarra negra que tiene las clavijas de un solo lado y que mi papá quería reparar y una guitarra azul que no sé de donde salió, pero fue amor a primera vista 😍
I thought I'd get them all together on the couch and take a group picture, and I think they look great all four together....
Pensé en reunirlas a todas en el sofá y hacer una fotografía grupal, y creo que se ven muy bien las cuatro juntas...
but I did know we had a mandolin and many cuatros, the Venezuelan folk instrument par excellence. In fact there are 5 cuatros here in the house at the moment. I have another one in Caracas, but there were about 10, I think that with the economic crisis my dad had to sell some of them, as collectors it's a shame, but the house is grateful hahaha, these are our cuatros of the moment:
No sabía que teníamos cuatro guitarras en casa, pero sí sabía que teníamos una mandolina y muchos cuatros, el instrumento popular venezolano por excelencia. De hecho hay 5 cuatros aquí en la casa en este momento. Yo tengo otro en Caracas, pero eran como 10, creo que con la crisis económica mi papá tuvo que vender algunos, como coleccionistas es una lástima, pero la casa lo agradece jajaja, estos son nuestros cuatros del momento:

Les tomé una foto grupal junto a las guitarras, la mandolina quedó como la estrella del grupo...
After the photo I remembered that one of my foursome was here in my room, in my parents' house since December, it was left out of this last photo, but then I put it in the place of honor of the mandolin, although I found these guys, the bongo and added them to the group photo.
Luego de la foto me acordé que uno de mis cuatros estaba aquí en mi cuarto, en la casa de mis papás desde Diciembre, quedó fuera de esta última foto, pero luego lo coloqué en el lugar de honor de la mandolina, aunque encontré a estos chicos, los bongó y los sumé a la fotografía grupal...
By now the old couch was starting to feel the adrenaline...
Ya para este momento el viejo sofá comenzaba a sentir la adrenalina...
To conclude I took out all the drums that were in good condition, but others I left in the dark, they are already very deteriorated. I only took pictures of two of them because they are very similar, but in the end I made a group picture with the whole collection... Don't worry about the sofa anymore, I had to continue on the floor.
Ya para concluir saqué todos los tambores que estaban en buenas condiciones, pero otros los dejé en la oscuridad, están muy deteriorados ya. Solo le tomé foto a dos porque son muy parecidos, pero al final hice una foto grupal con toda la colección... No se preocupen más por el sofá, tuve que continuar en el suelo.
It always caught my attention that at home there was a musical instrument with renaissance and baroque sounds, I call it the thing, but Jhoxiris has told me that it is called Cítara. I'm not very clear about it, but I think it's not normal to have such an instrument at home, it's very much my parents' thing.
Siempre me impresionó que en casa había un instrumento musical con sonidos renacentistas y del barroco, yo le llamo la cosa, pero @Jhoxiris me ha dicho que se llama Cítara. No estoy muy seguro de ello, pero creo que no es normal tener un instrumento así en casa, son cosas muy de mis papás.
Since I named Jhoxiris, in Caracas we have his keyboard and also my mom's keyboard, but somehow they have preserved over the years a small two and a half octave keyboard, it looks like a toy.
Ya que nombre a Jhoxiris, en Caracas tenemos su teclado y también el teclado de mi mamá, pero de alguna manera ellos han conservado con el paso de los años un pequeño teclado de dos octavas y media, parece de juguete.
The corotera consists of an incredible variety of small musical instruments. There is so much we have, what you can see in the photo below is multiplied threefold. Take a few good examples to photograph, and they usually come out once a year, for the Christmas season. In the picture you can see some small musical cymbals, two recorders, the claves, two tambourines, a triangle, a pair of maracas, a rattle, a chapero and something that sounds like a chapero but fancier hahaha...
La corotera consiste en una increíble variedad de instrumentos musicales pequeños. Es demasiado lo que tenemos, lo que puedan ver en la foto de abajo se multiplica al triple. Tome algunos buenos ejemplos para fotografiar, y generalmente salen una vez al año, para la temporada navideña. En la fotografía se aprecia unos pequeños platillos musicales, dos flautas dulces, los claves, dos panderetas, un triangulo, un par de maracas, un cascabel, un chapero y algo que suena como un chapero pero más elegante jajaja...
Well, it only remains for me to say goodbye with a group photo of all this crowd together. I take the images with my Tecno Pova II and edit them with PhotoDirector App. This initiative of the Hive Collectors community is wonderful and I know many musicians on Hive who must have a collection even bigger than ours, so I'll take the liberty of inviting @bertrayo @fernanblog @zullyscott @maitt87 @eugelys @mayorkeys @jorge234nv @sayury @nahupuku and @ljfenix.... That's right brother, a family even larger than the instruments we have. Thanks for your appreciation, I'm glad you like stringed instruments, I do better with wind instruments, but I only have a harmonica hahaha...

Brooooooooo naguaraaaa jajaja esto está increíble, tienes de todo, solo faltó la batería y el bajo jajaja qué locura 😱... me encantaron las guitarras y los cuatros obviamente; la guitarra de tu mamá y la azul están brutales y me atrevo a decir que de los instrumentos de cuerdas, por su marca, la mandolina sería de los más costosos sin duda, vamos a ver si alguien más conocedor lo corrobora, pero Tatay es una marca legendaria. La guitarra negra está genial y el hecho de que tenga las clavijas de esa forma la hace más interesante aún. Me gustó mucho también la percusión que poseen, mejor dicho todo está espectacular hermano.
Esas guitarras con un buen mantenimiento renacen más, porque están muy bonitas. Nada mi Bro qué deleite visual estas fotos, yo de broma tengo mis 3 guitarras y un par de micrófonos, antes tuve una tremenda batería, por ahí debo tener fotos, pero la vendí antes de salir de Venezuela. No me quiero imaginar cuantos instrumentos más tengan por ahí más lo que tu papá vendió, sin duda esto es una gran colección 🙌😀💛

Sí hermano, aquí aún falta gente. Hay cosas que se vendieron o regalaron, cosas muy deterioradas como para compartirlas aquí y cositas regadas entre Caracas y Maracay como el teclado grande, mi armónica y las castañuelas de mi mamá, que estaban en el cuarto de ella, pero ya sabes que es zona de cuarentena ahorita. Tu reacción ante este post me encantó, es muy tú querido Fercho, gracias por el cariño eterno. Si tienes fotos o videos con tu batería me gustaría verlas 😉

La Cítara, primera vez que la veo pero se ve que es un instrumento hermoso, me gustaría escuchar lo sonar.... Vaya hermano, que pena decir que ahora no tengo tantos instrumentos aquí en casa salvo mi trombón, la trompeta de mi hermano y la flauta de mi cuñada....
Pues antes tenía un montón de tambores, otro trombón, un clarinete y una lira pero... Me sucedió lo mismo que a tu padre 😅 Con la situación económica muchos de esos instrumentos tuvieron que irse...

Este es el tercer comentario que leo y la economía ha reducido el número de instrumentos de todos, y no solo de venezolanos... Tienes razón en lo del valor sentimental viejo, hace poco se me cayó el que tengo en Caracas que mi papá me regaló y no imaginas como lloré, pero bueno, eso se repara igual, lo bueno es que sigue sonando dignamente. Yesterday when I showed the photo to my mom she was very surprised with that black guitar, she had never seen it, so its origin is a secret that dad took with him, but I love that this anecdote exists. The Cuatro Global Harmony is a love, I just published a post where I play a song with it.

Ha, ha, ha, ha. Amazing. You have even more instruments than me or so I think. A long time ago, I remember taking a photo with all the instruments for an Open Mic. It was hilarious! Collecting instruments is an interesting thing to do. You can always tell a story from all the different kind of things you see in the photos.
I loved the Citara. It could be an interesting thing to learn to play.

Tienes lo que queda del mes de Febrero hermano, y ojalá puedas hacerlo, debe ser bonito que pasen los años y conservar fotografías como estas para el recuerdo. De hecho sentí mucha nostalgia tomando las fotos de los instrumentos de papá ❤️

Ok, this is a collection worthy of a musician's home. It is really quite touching to see again instruments that we once saw playing some time ago at the Hive Open Mic, those instruments are forever.

La mandolina me ha llamado la atención por su parecido con la bandurria, un instrumento típico en mi tierra que lleva 12 cuerdas en lugar de 8.
También me ha gustado mucho la guitarra azul y me he enamorado de la cítara. 😍

Wow, 12 cuerdas? 😱 todavía no domino bien el cuatro y ahora me sorprendes con esto que vas más allá de la mandolina jajajaja, ¡que bárbaro amiga!. Muchas gracias por tu comentario, a mí tampoco me extraña que tuviéramos tantos instrumentos, pero mientras más sacaba y agregaba más impacto era para mí. El sofá está bien, si puede conmigo puede con todo 😅
Durante unos años formé parte de una orquesta laudística, éramos solo guitarras, bandurrias y laúdes. Yo tocaba la guitarra, era lo más fácil porque la mayoría de las veces nos limitábamos a acompañar y la melodía estaba a cargo de los demás. 😁

My jaw dropped haha, you know that this collection is superb, exquisite and just unbeatable! It is quite emotional to see the instruments of each family member, including your parents... All are beautiful, all, still I have to mention the blue guitar, the mandolin, the Cuatro Armonía Global... The zither (cítara) is interesting. We had one when I was a child but no one played it and my grandma sold it (money was needed).
Thank you also for inviting other musicians, I am sure there are many musicians around who could show their musical instruments, though it would be difficult to beat this collection of yours hahaha.

Just after posting my mom told me she had the castanets in her room 😭 but still it's an awesome collection. The zither I really like since yesterday, but I don't know how to tune it, and well, I think I'm going to inherit my dad's cuatro and commit to getting better. Hola @jesuslnrs vengo a visitar tu casa y te digo hermano, tienes un gran tesoro, cada uno de estos instrumentos tiene una energía especial, yo tengo algo de música en mis genes jajaja, por parte de mi mamá muchos tienen el don nato de tocar , desde guitarras hasta violines sin haber estudiado un poquito, yo amo mucho la música, entre mis haberes tuve una guitarra maravillosa que los amigos de lo ajeno se llevaron en un mal momento de mi vida... pero bueno no entremos en detalles jajaja, tu colección es todo un lujo, tienes la magia presente en tu casa ✨
Muchas gracias bro, es un trabajo en familia este gran tesoro jeje... Wow, eso que me cuentas de aprender a tocar sin estudiar es algo que suele ser común pero muy sorprendente de todas formas, así que definitivamente lo llevan en las venas y lo sienten en el alma, al punto de poder expresarlo a través de los instrumentos. A pesar de esta extensa colección no soy experto en ninguno de ellos, nunca me senté realmente a dedicarme a tocar un instrumento, así que de todos sé lo más básico, excepto de la cítara, eso es de los años 1500 y realmente no sé cómo paró una en mi casa jajajaja. ¡Feliz Martes bro!...
Hola hermanito pasando tempranito por estos lares jajaja, debo hacer un montón de cosas hoy 🤣 , ese instrumento del 1500 lo conocí de niño, su sonido es espectacular si tuviera un cuatro o una guitarra le llevaría serenata a mi amada hoy , no toco como artista jajaja, pero extrañamente le saco melodías a casi cualquier instrumento 😆, saludos feliz día me voy corriendo a mis diligencias jajaja

This collection is really great, I loved the final photo with everything together. I do have some instruments, not as many as these, but over the years, I have been able to collect some that have made me very happy, maybe later I will bring them to this community.
You should friend, it is a very nice initiative for us musicians and it will be valid throughout the month of February, although if you miss the time I know that it will be well received later 😘
