2026 is Just Beginning!

This is a very recent memory, but just as fond as many others. Musically, it's been a very eventful year, as it's been quite strange here in Venezuela. The video excerpt I'm sharing is from the beginning of our first mini-concert of 2026, which consisted of singing a Mass and then performing about four choral pieces at the end. Even though today is March 12th, tomorrow is when we'll finally have our first official concert of 2026 in a large and beautiful hall.

The day I'm talking about today was so strange that I hadn't shared any stories here on Hive, and in fact, I hardly took any pictures. Even our mothers, who were at the church, didn't take any good photos or videos. And yet it was special: singing music for God in a Catholic church, singing together for the first time that year, singing in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Candelaria, where the remains of Saint José Gregorio Hernández rest, and especially because of the euphoria of the congregation and those attending Mass on that first Friday of Lent.

In the video, you can see that people were very excited to have the choir in the church; it seemed they had never heard a choir sing before. They practically didn't sit down and stood beside us, recording and appreciating the music. The director had to start the first piece even though we hadn't even finished forming up. The people's excitement was so great, and we had to find a way to make the performance happen, because churches don't close that late.

Anyway, I think it was an unforgettable first time. I loved it; I love seeing people so excited about the music. Besides, after two such abstract months in our country, we needed to connect with this feeling of performing live. I just came from our dress rehearsal for tomorrow's concert, and modesty aside, everything sounds great. That passion and desire to work is still within us; we just have to let it flow with joy, professionalism, and optimism 🙏

Este es un recuerdo muy reciente, pero igual de grato que muchos otros. Musicalmente ha sido un año muy accidentado, ya que de hecho el año ha sido bastante extraño aquí en Venezuela. El extracto de video que les comparto fue el inicio de nuestro primer mini concierto de 2026, lo cual solo fue cantar una misa y luego interpretar unas cuatro obras corales al final, y es que aunque hoy es 12 de Marzo, mañana es que al fin tendremos nuestro primer concierto oficial de 2026 en una sala grande y hermosa.

Fue tan extraño el día del cual hablo hoy que no había compartido ningún relato aquí en Hive, y de hecho no tomé casi fotografías, ni siquiera nuestras madres que estaban en la iglesia tomaron buenas fotos o videos, y aún así fue especial, por cantar música para Dios en un templo católico, por cantar juntos por primera vez en el año, por cantar en la Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, donde reposan los restos del ahora San José Gregorio Hernández y especialmente por la euforia del público y los asistentes de la misa de ese primer viernes de cuaresma.

En el video se puede apreciar que las personas estaban muy emocionadas de tener a la coral en la iglesia, parecía que nunca habían oído a un coro cantando. Prácticamente no se sentaron y estuvieron de pie a nuestro lado, grabando y apreciando la música que se hacía. La directora tuvo que comenzar la primera pieza aunque ni siquiera nos habíamos terminado de formar, la emoción de la gente era muy grande y teníamos que buscar la manera de sacar adelante la presentación, porque las iglesias no cierran tan tarde.

En fin, creo que fue una primera vez inolvidable, a mí me gustó, me gusta ver a la gente tan emocionada con la música, además de que luego de dos meses tan abstractos en nuestro país, necesitábamos conectar con este sentimiento de presentarnos en vivo. Justo ahora vengo de nuestro ensayo general para el concierto de mañana, y modestia aparte, todo suena muy bien, esa pasión y ganas de trabajar sigue dentro de nosotros, solo hay que dejarlo fluir con alegría, profesionalismo y optimismo 🙏
