Hello everyone. I have finally arrived at my last post about the experience of being part of an ensemble with members from all over the world without leaving my country. In retrospect I noticed that I never mentioned the other important half of what was this global gathering of musicians, and that we not only premiered the World Choir El Sistema, we were also accompanied by an orchestra even larger than us, and this one had members from all the continents of the world, and even more varied than the choir, as there were not so many Venezuelans. As part of Maestro José Antonio Abreu's dream, in this video and post I present to you the World Orchestra El Sistema...

¡Hola a todos!. Finalmente he llegado a mi último post sobre la experiencia de ser parte de una agrupación con integrantes de todo el mundo sin salir de mi país. En retrospectiva observé que nunca hice mención a la otra mitad importante de lo que fue este encuentro global de músicos, y eso que no solamente estrenamos el Coro Mundial El Sistema, también nos acompañó una orquesta incluso más numerosa que nosotros, y esta sí que tenía integrantes de todos los continentes del mundo, e incluso más variada que la coral, ya que no había tantos venezolanos. Como parte del sueño del Maestro José Antonio Abreu, en este video y post les presento a la Orquesta Mundial El Sistema...

It's not that I didn't want to talk about them in my previous publications, but as you can imagine during those weeks what was left over here in Caracas was work. In fact I don't think I never stopped because I was very active here in Hive, trying to meet and understand the international guests of the choir that we only had the moments before and after rehearsals to share outside of work and additionally at home the tasks piled up. I had practically no chance to meet the international guests of the orchestra and in fact I heard them for the first time when we rehearsed what you can hear in the video, Handel's Hallelujah.

No es que no haya querido hablar de ellos en mis anteriores publicaciones, pero como podrán imaginar durante esas semanas lo que sobró aquí en Caracas fue trabajo. De hecho creo que no paré nunca porque me mantenía muy activo aquí en Hive, trataba de conocer y entender a los invitados internacionales del coro que solamente teníamos los momentos previos y al culminar los ensayos para compartir fuera del trabajo y adicional en casa se acumulaban las tareas. Prácticamente no tuve oportunidad de conocer a los invitados internacionales de la orquesta y de hecho los escuché por primera vez cuando ensayamos lo que pueden escuchar en el video, el Hallelujah de Handel.

This blond guy next to me in the picture above is Bernardo Paulus, he plays violin and is the only one I really knew from the orchestra with his name and surname, as you can see he came to the one where we usually rehearsed. Even so several percussion boys accompanied us in the choir rehearsals to make the music of Africa more interesting and the percussionist from Greece who saved our lives by making us understand the 7/8 which gave us singers so much headache (including the Greek language) 😬 The few times we met in the big hall and at meal times it was noticeable that there were no divisions between the two groups, respect was mutual, we just didn't coincide so many times, and it should be noted that I am not very talkative, perhaps several of my fellow choir members dared to probe a little more.

Este chico rubio a mi lado en la fotografía de arriba es Bernardo Paulus, toca violín y es el único que realmente conocí de la orquesta con su nombre y apellido, como verán se acercó a la la donde generalmente ensayábamos nosotros. Aún así varios chicos de la percusión nos acompañaron en los ensayos del coro para hacer más interesante la música de África y el percusionista de Grecia que nos salvó la vida haciéndonos entender el 7/8 que tanto dolor de cabeza nos dio a los cantantes (incluyendo el idioma griego) 😬 Las pocas veces que nos encontramos en la sala grande y en horas de comida se notaba que no había divisiones entre ambas agrupaciones, el respeto era mutuo, solo no coincidimos tantas veces, y cabe destacar que yo no soy muy hablador, quizás varios de mis compañeros del coro si se atrevieron a indagar un poco más.

The repertoire of the orchestra was exquisite, great hits of the academic music of the world were present for more than an hour, and that was after the hour of concert that we had and with a pause of 20 minutes that served to mount the orchestra in the space where we sang. You can imagine the poor audience sitting in their seats for almost 4 hours hahaha, but they stayed there, that's passion. I get tired just waiting for our entrance at the end of Beethoven's 9th and it's only one hour 😅 They couldn't stop bringing the orchestra and choir together even in one musical number, so it was the real closing of the concert and closing of the congress. Handel's Hallelujah is a work that characterises us as musicians of the Sistema de Orquestas y Coros. We play it at every glorious moment for our institution, and boy, do we have many such moments, and it is something that is always ready and mastered by both ensembles, even without the scores. I will always say that this is not how Handel should sound hehe, we all here are clear that our Hallelujah sounds more like a Verdi Opera because of the power of such a large orchestra when it is generally played by a very small orchestra and a choir that sings opera, when this work is really one of the compositions that should be sung lighter. In fact now we have a big challenge because we will do Handel's Messiah in December with Maestro Dudamel. A very, very long and very high-pitched work for all voices, I swear we will have to sing as soft and light as possible, in fact I as a tenor will use a lot of falsetto so I don't get tired, because this composition has the power to leave you voiceless practically in the first 20 minutes if you cover the singing badly; so a new challenge has been unlocked...

El repertorio de la orquesta fue exquisito, grandes éxitos de la música académica del mundo se hicieron presentes por más de una hora, y eso fue después de la hora de concierto que tuvimos nosotros y con una pausa de 20 minutos que sirvió para montar a la orquesta en el espacio donde nosotros cantamos. Se pueden imaginar al pobre público sentados en sus butacas por casi 4 horas jajaja, pero ahí se mantuvieron, eso sí es pasión. Yo me canso solo de esperar nuestra entrada al final de la 9na de Beethoven y solo es una hora 😅 No podían dejar de unir a la orquesta y al coro así sea en un solo número musical, así que fue el verdadero cierre de concierto y cierre de congreso. El Hallelujah de Handel es una obra que nos caracteriza como músicos del Sistema de Orquestas y Coros. La tocamos en cada momento glorioso para nuestra institución, y vaya que tenemos muchos momentos así, además, es algo que siempre está listo y que dominamos ambas agrupaciones, incluso sin las partituras. Siempre diré que así no debe sonar Handel jeje, todos aquí estamos claros que nuestro Hallelujah suena más a una Opera de Verdi por la potencia de una orquesta tan numerosa cuando general mente la toca una orquesta muy pequeña y un coro que canta opera, cuando esta obra realmente es una de las composiciones que debería cantarse más ligero. De hecho ahorita tenemos un gran reto porque haremos el Messiah de Handel en diciembre con el Maestro Dudamel. Una obra muy, muy larga y muy aguda para todas las voces, a juro tendremos que cantar lo más suave y ligero posible, de hecho yo como tenor usaré mucho el falsete para no cansarme, porque esta composición tiene el poder de dejarte sin voz prácticamente en los primeros 20 minutos si abarcas mal el canto; así que un nuevo reto ha sido desbloqueado...

Well, now I have reached the end of this long story. I thank all of you who accompanied me during each post, those who know me know that I have had a very, very, very hard year, and this international meeting in Caracas gave me back my life, gave me back my passion for music and my will to live after months of coping with my family tragedy. I always knew that it would be the same music that would inspire my passion again and here we are, working hard every day again, even in homage to the one who gave me music through his blood. I hope you liked it. A few days ago I thanked my Venezuelan brothers and I want to thank other people who have been supporting me like @mipiano, @elbuhito, @mayorkeys, @nanixxx, @blind-spot, @avdesing, @holler, @zehn34, @julti1985 and @usagidee among many others that I can't remember right now. Thanks for your supportive comments and love. Ah!!!! And how could I forget the rat boy... Although he is Venezuelan and I already mentioned him in the other post, he is my favourite Hiver @fernanblog ❤️

Bueno, ahora sí he llegado al final de este largo cuento. Agradezco a todos los que me acompañaron durante cada post, quienes me conocen saben que he tenido un año mu, muy, muy duro, y este encuentro internacional en Caracas me devolvió la vida, me devolvió la pasión por la música y las ganas de vivir luego de meses de sobrellevar mi tragedia familiar. Siempre supe que sería la misma música quien me inspiraría nuevamente la pasión y aquí estamos, trabajando duro cada día otra vez, incluso en homenaje a quien me dio la música a través de su sangre. Espero les haya gustado. Hace unos días agradecí a mis hermanos venezolanos y quiero agradecer a otras personas que me han estado apoyando como @mipiano, @elbuhito, @mayorkeys, @nanixxx, @blind-spot, @avdesing, @holler, @zehn34, @julti1985 y @usagidee entre muchos otros que justo ahora no recuerdo.
