This special tour took place on Saturday, and it was quite out of the ordinary, now I tell you why... That day was the 49th anniversary of the musical institution where I sing as a tenor and the celebration was so big that there were guests from the government of the country and embassies of other nations, so for security measures for so many important people were not open all areas of the venue, even for us artists, but then I discovered that to not feel in captivity while waiting for the time of our concert we could go out to Los Caobos Park in Caracas, a beautiful place full of nature just behind our concert hall.

Este paseo especial tuvo lugar el día Sábado, y fue bastante fuera de lo común, ahora les digo porque... Ese día era el 49 aniversario de la institución musical donde canto como tenor y la celebración era tan grande que hubo invitados del gobierno del país y de embajadas de otras naciones, así que por medidas de seguridad por tantas personas importantes no estaban abiertas todas las zonas de la sede, incluso para nosotros los artistas, pero luego descubrí que para no sentirnos en cautiverio mientras esperábamos la hora de nuestro concierto podíamos salir al Parque Los Caobos de Caracas, un hermoso lugar lleno de naturaleza justo detrás de nuestra sala de conciertos.

The first thing I thought was that I didn't have the right outfit for the park, especially the shoes, and the saddest thing is that my girl didn't want to come with me, she said she didn't want to sweat before the concert and that it was too hot outside, but she was wrong, the weather and the vegetation were at their best and there was a lot of breeze. I had my tailcoat on because we had a photo shoot about four hours before the concert, and this dress is not so easy to put on and take off, so I left it on and went to walk the park like this.

Lo primero que pensé es que no tenía la vestimenta adecuada para el parque, especialmente los zapatos, y lo más triste es que mi chica no quiso acompañarme, dijo que no quería sudar antes del concierto y que afuera hacía mucho calor, pero ella se equivocó, el clima y la vegetación estaban en su mejor momento y había mucha brisa. Yo tenía puesto mi frac porque tuvimos una sesión de fotos unas cuatro horas antes del concierto, y este vestido no es tan fácil de poner y quitar, así que me lo dejé y me fui a caminar el parque así.

All the discomfort of my costume went away when a boy dressed as Spiderman asked his mom: "What is he dressed up as, mom? and the lady answered: "Penguin", looking at me mischievously... At that moment I remembered that even though I was in work mode, for the little ones it was still carnival week and the park had a stage where I assume there would be some event later, plus several floats parked and many children playing with their costumes on.

Toda la incomodidad de mi vestimenta se me pasó cuando un niño vestido de Spiderman le preguntó a su mamá: ¿De qué está disfrazado él mamá?, y la Señora le respondió: "De Pingüino", mirándome con picardía... En ese momento recordé que a pesar de que yo estaba en modo trabajo, para los pequeños todavía era la semana de carnaval y el parque tenía una tarima donde asumo que habría algún evento más tarde, además de varias carrozas estacionadas y muchos niños jugando con sus disfraces puestos.

It was impossible not to attract attention dressed like that, but I needed to get to the fountain, as it was lit from the headquarters and I had many years without seeing it like that, in fact I think it was damaged and has returned to work. It was so breezy that I couldn't get as close as I wanted to so as not to get my choir uniform wet. This picture above was the one that looked the best to me. I look at it again and imagine myself standing in front of it again admiring its beauty.

Era imposible no llamar la atención vestido así, pero yo necesitaba llegar hasta la fuente, ya que se veía encendida desde la sede y tenía muchos años sin verla así, de hecho creo que estaba dañada y ha vuelto a funcionar. Había tanta brisa que no pude acercarme tanto como yo quería para no mojarme el uniforme del coro. Esta fotografía de arriba fue la que mejor me quedó. La vuelvo a ver y me imagino parado nuevamente frente a ella admirando su belleza.

In the end, other tenors and baritones from the choir also entered the park, so I stopped being the strange adult and I think people understood that we were musicians from the Orchestra and Choir System. Of course, the girls were conspicuous by their absence, they must have some personal reason regarding their dresses. Although I got a little tired walking with these patent shoes and the afternoon was still young, this walk de-stressed me from being locked up in a room with so many people talking at the same time and it was one of the best concerts I have ever had, to the point of shedding a few tears in the middle of the performance.... The good thing is that no one noticed, because we were behind the orchestra 😉

Al final otros tenores y barítonos de la coral también se adentraron en el parque, así que dejé de ser el adulto extraño y creo que las personas entendieron que éramos músicos del Sistema de Orquestas y Coros. Eso sí, las chicas brillaron por su ausencia, algún motivo personal tendrán respecto a sus vestidos. A pesar de que me cansé un poco caminando con estos zapatos patentes y la tarde aún era joven, este paseo me desestresó de estar encerrado en un salón con tantas personas hablando a la vez y fue uno de los mejores conciertos que he tenido, al punto de volver a botar unas lágrimas en plena presentación... Lo bueno es que nadie lo notó, porque estábamos detrás de la orquesta 😉
