A quintessential musical is Les Misérables. I remember, as a young man, reading in the newspaper about the musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's Les Misérables and dreaming of seeing it someday. Back then, I was still involved in theater group activities, so seeing a show was a dream come true.
Dreams are like that; some come true, others don't. Eventually, videos of the musical appeared on YouTube, so I was able to enjoy it through those platforms that are now known and used by most people.
Victor Hugo's work has had many adaptations in the form of miniseries and films, and I had already seen many of them, but my joy reached its peak when they decided to adapt the musical into a feature film, directed by Tom Hooper. And I loved the film, as did many others. Of course, there will always be those who didn't appreciate it, but in general, both the public and the critics received it very positively. It was one of my favorites at the awards ceremonies of that time.
I know there was a lot of talk about Anne Hathaway's solo, and she was fabulous. How can you not be moved by that scene? "I Dreamed a Dream" is an excellent song, I love it. I'll leave it here for you to enjoy.
Un musical por excelencia es Los Miserables. Recuerdo que, de joven, leía en el periódico sobre la adaptación musical de Los Miserables de Victor Hugo y soñaba con verla algún día. En aquel entonces, todavía participaba en actividades con el grupo de teatro, así que ver un espectáculo musical era un sueño.
Los sueños son así; algunos se cumplen, otros no. Con el tiempo, aparecieron vídeos del musical en YouTube, así que pude disfrutarlo a través de esas plataformas que ahora son conocidas y utilizadas por la mayoría.
La obra de Victor Hugo ha tenido muchas adaptaciones en forma de miniseries y películas, y yo ya había visto muchas de ellas, pero mi alegría llegó cuando decidieron adaptar el musical a un largometraje, dirigido por Tom Hooper. Y me encantó la película, como a muchos otros. Claro que siempre habrá quienes no la apreciaron, pero en general, tanto el público como la crítica la recibieron muy positivamente. Fue una de mis favoritas en las galas de premios de aquella época.
Sé que se habló mucho del solo de Anne Hathaway, y estuvo fabulosa. ¿Cómo no emocionarse con esa escena? "I Dreamed a Dream" es una canción excelente, me encanta. La dejo aquí para que la disfruten.
Samantha Barks, who was part of the cast of the stage musical, appears in the film. She played Éponine for a long time and auditioned. Fortunately for her, she was chosen. They surely had Hollywood actresses in mind for that role, so it was a pleasant surprise, as she was only known in the theater world; she wasn't a big star like the rest of the film's main cast.

Getting back to the topic of the musical film, I'd like to share a video I really like. It's a rehearsal of the cast, recorded for the Oscars ceremony, where the film was nominated. I find it quite funny to watch Russell Crowe, because you can tell he had the most difficulty with the singing. I think he even mentioned it in several interviews, and when he sings his part, you can clearly see the effort he put in and how someone was guiding him. Singing isn't easy; I'm terrible at it, so agreeing to participate in a musical is a huge challenge for an actor.
Volviendo al tema de la película musical, les comparto un video que me gusta mucho. Es un ensayo del elenco, grabado para la ceremonia de los Óscar, donde la película estaba nominada. Me resulta bastante gracioso ver a Russell Crowe, porque se nota que fue quien más tuvo dificultades con el canto. Creo que incluso lo mencionó en varias entrevistas, y cuando canta su parte, se ve claramente el esfuerzo que puso y cómo alguien lo guiaba. Cantar no es fácil; yo soy pésimo, así que aceptar participar en un musical es un gran reto para un actor.
One of my favorite scenes and songs from the musical, thanks to its humor and its unsettling tone, is "Master of the House." In the film, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter make a phenomenal duo, and the scene is excellent. Their characters are con artists, thieves, and cruel, but I'd prefer you enjoy the performance by the actors from the musical's 25th anniversary production. It's very good; I hope you like it.
Una de las escenas y canciones del musical que me encanta, por su humor y su toque desagradable gracias a sus personajes, es "Master of the House". En la película, Sacha Baron Cohen y Helena Bonham Carter forman un dúo fenomenal, y la escena es excelente. Sus personajes son estafadores, ladrones y crueles, pero prefiero que disfruten de la interpretación de los actores del musical en su 25 aniversario. Es muy buena; espero que les guste.
Finally, to mark the 25th anniversary, an extensive but unmissable video has been released, bringing together most of the actors and actresses who, in different seasons during the show's first 25 years, were part of the cast, portraying those memorable characters. Les Misérables is a magnificent work, and the musical is, without a doubt, a moving masterpiece.
Finalmente, con motivo del mismo 25 aniversario, se ha publicado un extenso pero imperdible vídeo que reúne a la mayoría de los actores y actrices que, en diferentes temporadas durante los primeros 25 años de la obra, formaron parte del elenco, interpretando a esos memorables personajes. Los Miserables es una obra magnífica, y el musical es, sin duda, una conmovedora obra maestra.

The truth is, that play is really well-known and beautiful; I especially like the video where they’re all singing – the third one. But the first one is brilliant – such moving songs that really tug at the heartstrings. It’s fantastic. I’ve no idea, which is why I’m asking – is the play still being performed in any way? Te recomiendo ver la película musical.
pronto se estrenara un film francés que es otra adaptación de la novela, pero no es musical, es otra de tantas adaptaciones y actualmente creo que vi en cartelera otra daptacion llamada Jean Valjean, en España creo que la titularon Los Miserables : El origen. Peor son adaptaciones de la historia original, no son del musical
Si, se sigue presentando el montaje , lo ideal seria ver ese espectáculo con las grandes compañías de Londres. igual hay otras compañías de teatro que la montan, creo que en España, en Madrid, hay una que hace el montaje del musical.

Se nota que te gusta y mucho... que gran video!! Recordé que una sola vez participé en una obra de teatro a mis 17 años... La Bella y La Bestia, yo era la que acomodaba la escenografía en cada acto... luego el profesor de música descubrió que tenía voz de soprano.
