Market Friday: Live Music at a Microbrewery by the Lake

(Edited)

Hello friends, and especially a bow or a curtsie to @dswigle, the fabulous proprietor of Market Friday! I swear I have good intentions to get organized and get my post for Market Friday pre-loaded to post on Friday but somehow yet another week goes by and I have not done that. Here it is, Saturday again!

Last night was one for the ages. One of our best friends is a guitarist in a local band called The Basement Kings. And they were playing at one of our favorite venues, a microbrewery in the town of Excelsior Minnesota called, appropriately enough, Excelsior Brewing Company.

The venue is just a couple of blocks from Lake Minnetonka which is a hopping place in the summertime here. As you can see they have some water themed decor.

We arrived early because the band is very popular and the venue isn’t enormous. Tables fill up quickly! Fortunately, some friends had secured a table that accommodated our big group. There were 7 of us, once some good friends showed up that we didn’t even know would be there.

I forgot to get a group picture. I also forgot to get a picture of the awesome pizza we picked up from the pizza place next door. (Eye roll! How hard is it to remember these things, Jayna??) But some friends got a picture of hubby and me.

I was too busy having fun to take a lot of pictures, I guess!

Okay, here are some pictures of the band. Our good friend is the guitarist on the far right. Our daughters played softball with the daughters of the lead singer and the guy to the right of him. And in fact one of the daughters got up and sang a few songs with her dad! So it was all around a delightful night of local fun.

The place was packed! We had to squeeze past people to get to the bar or the restroom. It’s a popular band! I had a really nice IPA called MinnehaHop. That’s a local joke because we have a creek and a watershed here called Minnehaha. (Heh! Should have taken a picture. If I was smart I could even have made this post suitable for @detlev’s #beersaturday initiative. But I’m not that smart!)

Well here are more venue pics.

Don’t you wonder what those big brewery tanks cost? Well worth it, I’m sure. They have a thriving business. Okay, here’s the rest of the pictures. I took all of these before the band was scheduled to start at 7:30, and it’s a good thing because I couldn’t move around the place once the masses of people showed up!

The thing is that you look so happy. How much does that ‘fairy dust’ cost cos I’d be mad to get some! Of course, though, I’m not a total idiot; it’s not something that you can buy.

Beautiful pictures @jayna, you’ve outdone yourself.

You really do know how to have a fun time! When I am having the best of times, pictures go out the window! It's a given! An early show so that you don't miss getting a seat, hello, yes! It's pretty cool when you get to know a few of the band and singers too. It makes the experience all the sweeter! These are the things that memories are made of.

I forgot that they don't mind if you bring in food, that is great! It saves them from getting a food license and having to go through inspections all the time. Things you worry about when you serve food.

I love that shot of you and the hubby. ❤️ You two are adorable!! Love, love, love! Thank you for letting us come along! Beer here!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Yes, that's it! The more fun I'm having, the less likely I am to actually remember to document it with photos. Thank you so much for stopping by, @dswigle!
