(ESP-ENG) The Weeknd - Sinónimo de calidad!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Abel Tesfaye or as he is known worldwide as The Weeknd is one of the top singer-songwriters in the music scene today. We are facing an artist who has been among the most talked about for approximately 7 years, constantly releasing music and that in addition to that end up being real hits. The Weeknd is a guy who on Spotify has more than 115 million monthly listeners and on Youtube some of his great songs exceed one billion plays; those numbers, my friends, represent absolute madness and denote the magnitude of the quality he has and how valued he is by his fans. His music is one that combines Soul, R&B and even Dance and electronic music, I remember that I discovered him a few years ago with one of the tracks you will see below, if you do not hear much of him, you are on time.
- Starboy
If there is something that The Weeknd has in his videos that complement the whole song is the quality of them. Almost all of his videos are a high-end production, they seem to be taken from a movie, the framing, the lights, the cinematography, all of them give a context that helps to better understand the lyrics of the songs; it is the perfect complement. For me Starboy is the best song that he has in his repertoire, it is also the most commercial and sounded but that does not take away the good level he has. The other important point is that it is a collaboration with Daft Punk, this French group that broke up in 2021 and was so brutal and iconic. They I think are the ones to blame for the sound of this track, a bit taken to funk without getting out of pop. The backing vocals are also very special, if you listen to them it's them accompanying The Weeknd, honestly this gives a very cool vibe to the song. The lyrics talk about being unstoppable in life, not caring about anything and always being focused on achieving everything you set your mind to. It is a very motivational song, in my case I listen to it when I'm exercising, it really helps a lot. A great song, undoubtedly one of his best.
- Save Your Tears
This is another of The Weeknd's great songs. At some point I brought it and today I do it again because for me it is one of the most important of the singer. A song that is about 4 years old and that every time it sounds still seems as if it was yesterday that came to light. What I like the most here is the voice, it is very high pitched but not shrill, he knows how to handle it very well, it has a sonority and a very soft harmony that is very cool to listen to. The other thing is what I mentioned in the previous one, the video here is also on another level, it is simpler than the previous one but it is still very striking, he always looks for elements a little "dark" and strange to decorate the set and that makes the visual a very strong point. The lyrics tell us about a person who recognizes that he hurt his partner and in spite of that he is looking to make things right. He knows that he made her cry and that he abandoned her and now he is asking her to accept him back into her life, things that are very typical in many people's day to day lives. Musically I would say it's a funk with that bass at the beginning that gives that familiar vibe of this genre. Melodically it's one of my favorite songs by The Weeknd, it's that song that's hard to get out of your head.
- Call Out My Name
What happens when someone is in love with a person but that feeling is not reciprocated? - Well, that's more or less what this song is about. The Weeknd here tells us how he did a lot of things for a person, he put her as a priority, in difficult times he kept her close so that in the end none of that would work. It is a song of spite and unhappiness. These are topics that Abel always touches on in his songs, he will always talk about love and everything that exists within him, whether good or bad. Here the really good thing is the feeling that there is in the interpretation, it is a song that falls into the personal, it is as if he had it in the middle of his living room and was singing it on the air. Again the video is supreme, the visuals this time are of a very high quality, the blue tones at the beginning, the bat theme, everything makes sense even though at first glance it may not seem that way. Many people don't put this song in their top, I do because of the strength and the feeling that comes out when listening to this song. For me it is one of a kind, it should be listened to a little more despite the great numbers it has.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos escuchamos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
