Linkin Park was or is one of those bands that back in the early 2000's became a real sensation and boom around the world and one of the most diehard fans they had or still have is me. I feel that many people at some point in our lives we had several stages in terms of music, some fans of reggae, rap, rock or metal or others to more Latin rhythms could be. The thing is that Linkin Park had a particularity and is that they combined very well the rap with metal, in fact you could say that his style is that and was what led them to become one of the biggest and most listened bands in the world and all this from the hand of its leader and guide Chester Bennington.

But all that was the before, a very promising and spectacular before. Then came the "after", one that was marked by Chester's unexpected and tragic death. All the plans that had been made, the music that was going to be released, the concerts and tours that were going to be given were stopped, everything was put on the back burner because it was necessary to mourn the departure of a genius like Bennington. The reality is that this "hiatus" continues six years after that event, the band has no intention of returning to the stage, there are no plans for anything, no new albums or anything that could make their fans happy. It is a band that died together with Chester because he was the creative head of everything which for me represents an absolute pity. That's why today I want to make a little top with those songs with which I grew up and that marked a very special time in the life of many.

- In The End

This is one of the few songs that when I listen to it I get goosebumps because it takes me back to a time in my life that I remember fondly back in the year 2000. In The End today I would dare to say that it is an anthem, it is a song that is acclaimed and listened to by millions of people and if not at least it is incredibly well known. Here we see very well that combination of rap with metal and that the truth is incredible, that duet between Chester and Mike Shinoda was very explosive, they hit a lot and their songs were the proof of it. The lyrics of this song are a bit dark in the sense that it tells us that no matter how hard you try, how much you fight for someone and trust in that person, time will always pass over everyone and in the end we will fall to get back up again. It's a song about redemption and not giving up on someone. Today I still listen to this song practically every day or at least when I get it on random playback, for me the years and even decades will pass and I will continue listening to it because the classics should never die.

- Numb

A second anthem with lyrics equal or even more powerful than the previous one. Numb tells us about being that misunderstood person, that person that everyone expects you to be but you don't really feel that way. It's being under the gaze and judgment of everyone, it's knowing that every single thing you do, whatever it is, is another mistake and that in the end it will eventually lead us to be more insensitive and more isolated for not being able to meet the expectations of others. It is a very accurate message because I am sure that many people are in that situation and will be so no matter how many years go by, hence this topic will never die, despite its twenty years of existence. But here there is another element and it is the powerful and broken voice that Chester had, today I dare to say that he was one of those who put more feeling and emotion to his interpretations, in fact if you see this video you will realize what I say, he sings with a unique power. And always accompanied by Shinoda on piano, little is said about him too but that touch of second voice with his own style is what made Linkin Park so special, it's like his signature.

- CASTLE OF GLASS

With this theme we go a little more to the present, the 2012 to be more specific. Here we see a Linkin Park a little more mature, this does not mean that the quality is lower, but at least in this song the sound a little different from what they offered us 10-12 years ago. It is not only the message it has but in this particular case I really like the melody or musicality, I am one of those people who get carried away by that aspect even more than with the lyrics themselves. This story tells us about our daily bread in countries like the United States, the loss of a loved one while serving in the army. The glass castle, as the song is called, is an allusion to the fact that each of these stories are small cracks in that immense castle that seems to be breaking more and more, so how each one of us deals with it is what will determine our future. It is impressive how under that Linkin Park sound over the years there are always such real messages, sincere, powerful and the adjective you want to give him; I think that breaks the paradigm that because it is rock or metal has to be all about banal issues. Linkin Pak is much more than that.

As I told you this band is currently "out of service" and it's a real shame because they are one of the greatest bands of the last years but unfortunately they were not able to recover after the loss of Chester. I hope someday they make a comeback, I feel it won't be the same but it would be a nice tribute to what Chester was and to all his fans around the world.
