We often talk about the latest anime that are generating buzz, but we rarely focus on their opening themes, which ultimately play a crucial role in an anime's reception. As you know, there are many new titles this season, meaning that each one has a new opening theme to discuss. Very few people pay attention to this, but I'm not one of them, and that's why today I want to make a short list of what I consider the best opening themes based on my personal taste, understanding that this is all subjective. I don't know if you'll agree with me, but if not, please leave your own in the comments.

Comentamos muchos acerca de los últimos anime que están dando de que hablar pero poco nos enfocamos en sus opening, cosa que al final termina por ser muy importante para la aceptación de cada anime. Como saben en esta temporada hay muchos títulos nuevos lo que significa que por cada uno tenemos un nuevo opening del que hablar. Muy pocas personas se fijan en esto, no es mi caso y es por eso que hoy quiero hacer un pequeño top con los que para mi son los mejores en función de mis gustos entendiendo que todo esto es subjetivo. No se si estarán de acuerdo conmigo pero en caso de que no pues déjenme los suyos en los comentarios.

- HIDANE - Tatsuya Kitani [Nippon Sangoku]

Our friend Tatsuya is one of the best composers and singers in the anime world today. He's a guy who has songs for JJK, Hell's Paradise, BLEACH, and many more, so he's made a name for himself in a very solid way. For me, if an opening theme sticks with me from the first moment I hear it, it's a sign that he did his job. I think what I like most about this one is the combination of sounds it has; it's a mix of traditional elements—because you can hear them in the background—with modern, 90s J-pop. Also, something that really hooked me was the brass sound (trumpets), which isn't very common. The song is incredibly catchy, with a rhythm that makes you want to listen to it all the time, and then there are the lyrics. Sometimes you need to look up what they mean, and in this case, it talks about overcoming adversity, about having hope, about always expecting the best despite the circumstances or how terrible everything around you might be. If you look closely, you'll see it goes hand in hand with the story, and it's one of the things Tatsuya does perfectly: capturing the essence of the anime through the lyrics. This opening is top-notch, one of the best.

Nuestro amigo Tatsuya es uno de los mejores compositores y cantantes en la actualidad dentro del mundo del anime. Es un tipo que tiene canciones en JJK, Hell’s Paradise, BLEACH y un largo etc por lo que ha logrado hacerse un nombre de una manera muy sólida. A mi lo que me pasa es que si desde el primer momento que escucho un opening se me queda grabado para mi es una señal de que hizo el trabajo. Creo que lo que más me gusta de este es la combinación de sonidos que tiene y es que es una mezcla de lo tradicional, porque en el fondo se escucha, con lo moderno, con ese j-pop de los 90. Además algo de lo que me enganchó mucho también es el sonido de metales (trompetas), algo que no es tan común. La canción es sumamente pegajosa, tiene un ritmo que te hace querer escucharla siempre y bueno la letra. A veces es necesario buscar que dice y en este caso nos habla de como superar la adversidad, como tener esperanza, de como siempre esperar lo mejor a pesar del ambiente o lo terrible que pueda ser todo lo que te rodea. Si se ponen a ver es algo que va de la mano con lo que es la historia y es de las cosas que Tatsuya hace a la perfección, plasmar el anime con las letras. Muy top este opening, de los mejores.

- FLY AWAY - Vaundy [Yomi no Tsugai]

When things are so obvious, it's easier to do them, or in this case, to choose them. It's known that Yomi no Tsugai is destined to be one of the best anime of the year; I don't know if it's the best, but it's definitely in the top 3. And since that's so certain, it can't have a low-quality opening, and look, it doesn't. Vaundy is in charge of this super-top, electrifying song, but who is he? - Just like Kitani, he also has songs scattered around that you've probably heard without realizing it. "Chainsaw Blood" from Chainsaw Man can also be heard in Sakamoto Days, My Hero Academia, etc. These are men who know what they're doing because they're able to capture what an opening or anime song needs to be a success. "Fly Away" is exactly everything a good opening should be, and I'm sure many will agree. Aside from being very rock-oriented and having obvious J-pop influences, it has very nostalgic and resilient lyrics. It speaks of enduring life's burdens while also expressing a kind of pessimism about the future. The lyrics are melancholic, but the rhythm is quite the opposite. I think we're looking at one of the best opening themes of the season, just like with the anime.

Cuando las cosas son tan evidentes es más fácil hacerlas o en este caso escogerlas. Se sabe que Yomi no Tsugai está llamado a ser de los mejores anime del año, no se si el mejor pero del top 3 no se baja seguro y como eso es tan así no puede tener un opening de baja calidad y miren que no lo tiene. Vaundy es el encargado de esta canción super top y eléctrica pero quien es él? - al igual que Kitani también tiene canciones por ahí regadas que probablemente has escuchado y no lo sepas. "Chainsaw blood" de Chainsaw Man, en Sakamoto Days también se puede escuchar, My Hero Academia, etc. Son hombres que saben lo que hacen porque son capaces de plasmar lo que un opening o canción para anime necesita para ser un éxito. Fly Away es exactamente todo lo que un buen opening es y estoy seguro de que muchos estarán de acuerdo. A parte de ser muy rock y con obvias influencias en el j-pop tiene una letra muy nostalgica y resiliente, habla de soportar las cargas que la vida te puede poner al mismo tiempo de una especie de pesimismo por el futuro. La letra es melancólica más no el ritmo, este es todo lo contrario. Creo que estamos, al igual con el anime, ante uno de los mejores OP de la temporada.

- Bubble - yorushika [Liar Game]

For this song selection, my inner musician came out, and musically speaking, this track is incredible. Yorushika is the duo behind it—yes, they're a duo composed of a producer, N-buna, and a vocalist, Sue. A few things to mention. First, they collaborated with Eve on the anime Witch Hat Atelier, whose opening theme is also top-notch. Second, they've collaborated on other projects, and some of the songs you hear on Frieren might even be from them. So, what can I say about the song itself? For me, it's the best of the three. The instrumental quality is top-notch, supreme, monumental, and if you listen to the guitar in the background, you'll know those riffs are pure poetry. That blend of jazz, alternative rock, and touches of J-pop gives the song a unique sound. Sue's voice is delicate yet powerful enough to convey the meaning of the lyrics, which are nothing less than a sense of weariness and how overwhelming life can be. This song is absolutely fantastic, it's going straight onto my playlist.

Para la selección de esta canción se me salió la vena de músico que tengo interna y es que a nivel musical, valga la redundancia, este tema es increíble. Yorushika es el dúo encargado porque si, son un dúo compuesto por un productor, N-buna y una vocalista, Sue. Varias cosas que decir. La primera es que esta gente colaboró con Eve para el anime Witch Hat Atelier, cuyo OP también es muy top. Lo segundo es que han colaborado en otras cosas más y es que lo que algunas de las canciones que se escucha en Frieren puede que vengan de ellos. Entrando en el tema pues que puedo decir? - para mi es el mejor de los 3. La calidad instrumental es top, suprema, monumental y es que si escuchan la guitarra de fondo sabrán que esos riff son poesía para los oídos. Esa mezcla entre el jazz, el rock alternativo y los toques de nuevo del j-pop le dan un sonido unico a la canción. La voz de Sue es delicada pero con la fuerza necesaria para transmitir el significado de la letra que no es otro que el desgano por las cosas y por lo abrumadora que puede ser la vida. Súper top este tema, de una va para mi playlist.

I am not sure what elements make an opening memorable. But I notice most of the legendary openings have english on it. Take Duvet from Serial Experiment Lain for example. Dan Da Dan is another one. This season one that I like is the Gals with the Otaku guy, Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?

Yo ya iba a venir a comentar el opening de Liar Game, sin dudas, para mí es el mejor de los que he escuchado está temporada, jajaja. Además le pega demasiado con la trama del anime, le da ese toque misterioso.
