La década de los noventas y los principios de los 2000 nos dejaron artistas que ciertamente dejaron una huella importante en el panorama musical que tendríamos hasta el sol de hoy. Aquellos años se caracterizaron por una gran cantidad de baladistas pop de habla inglesa que inundaron las radios y hasta el propio cine, porque si, Seal es el protagonista de una de las bandas sonoras más épicas y que lo llevó a ganar múltiples premios Grammy. Es normal que hayan personas que no lo ubiquen, esa es la razón de ser esta publicación, pero más allá de eso también lo traigo porque recientemente escuché un tema de él y sinceramente tuve una regresión importante por lo que acá estoy compartiendo la música de este gran artista.

Cuando les hablaba de los premios Grammy me refería a esta canción en particular. Por allá en el 1994-1995 se estrenó la película Batman Forever siendo este tema parte de su soundtrack, la canción es tan top que se llevó 3 premios entre ellos "canción del año". Seal se caracteriza por estar flotando entre el rock, soul y el R&B, muchas combina los tres géneros en una sola canción dando como resultado piezas realmente buenas. Este tema en específico es un claro ejemplo de lo dicho anteriormente. De las cosas que más me gusta es la solemnidad que tiene en su sonido, por momentos pareciera que estamos escuchando una canción ancestral vikinga para después entrar en el típico soul de Seal. Hay unas guitarras por ahí que suenan realmente bien y un clarinete o corno, no me queda claro, que hace que el sonido sea más profundo y acogedor. La letra es simple, habla de la llegada de una persona a la vida de otra y como esta logró iluminar su vida sacándolo de un lugar bastante oscuro al punto que se le haga complicado vivir sin ella. Esta es de las canciones más importantes de Seal, mi recomendación es que la escuchen y disfruten.
When I was talking about the Grammy awards I was referring to this song in particular. Back in 1994-1995 the movie Batman Forever was released and this song was part of its soundtrack, the song is so top that it won 3 awards including "song of the year". Seal is characterized for floating between rock, soul and R&B, many times he combines the three genres in a single song resulting in really good pieces. This specific song is a clear example of the above. One of the things I like the most is the solemnity of his sound, at times it sounds like we are listening to an ancestral Viking song and then we get into the typical Seal soul. There are some guitars in there that sound really good and a clarinet or horn, I'm not sure, that makes the sound deeper and cozier. The lyrics are simple, it talks about the arrival of a person in the life of another and how this person managed to illuminate his life taking him out of a pretty dark place to the point that it becomes difficult to live without her. This is one of Seal's most important songs, my recommendation is to listen to it and enjoy it.

Get It Together es quizás de las canciones más movidas que tiene en su repertorio. Musicalmente hablando es una joya porque es el típico R&B con vibras de los ochenta, es más, se parece mucho en su sonido a Earth, Wind & Fire, aquel grupo de finales de los 70 y los 80. Que me gusta de esta canción? - varias cosas, la incorporación de metales, las trompetas suenan espectaculares en este tipo de géneros y el toque de los violines para apoyar y reforzar los coros, ese acompañamiento aunque no lo crean ayuda mucho a que la canción sea más pegajosa y tenga un poco más de armonía. Seal es un artista muy versátil, es un tipo que se adapta a cualquier género y eso es lo que lo hace tan lleno de calidad. En cuanto a la letra pues como dice el titulo la idea es mantenerse unidos a pesar de cualquier circunstancia para tratar de hacer un mundo mejor o por lo menos uno en donde el amor y el respeto predomine. Esta fue una de las primeras canciones que escuché de Seal, tiene más de 20 años y para mi sigue siendo un tema de alto nivel. Creo que si quieres comenzar a escucharlo lo deberías de hacer por este tema, es imposible que no te enganche su sonido.

As for the lyrics, as the title says, the idea is to stay united in spite of any circumstance to try to make a better world or at least one where love and respect prevail. This was one of the first songs I heard from Seal, it is more than 20 years old and for me it is still a high level song. I think that if you want to start listening to him you should do it for this song, it is impossible not to get hooked by his sound.

Esta canción de Ben E. King es quizás una de las más versionadas de la historia en la música moderna. Cientos y cientos de covers hay por allí afuera pasando desapercibidos o siendo realmente buenos, creo que este hecho por Seal es uno de los mejores que pueden llegar a escuchar. Siempre he pensado que las canciones interpretadas en vivo tienen una magia y vibra especial, nunca suenan igual a su versión de estudio es por eso que escogí este en específico. Lo que más destaco de esta versión es el sentimiento y la pasión con la que interpreta cada palabra, esa es la magia de los en vivo. De por si Stand By Me es un tema cuya musicalidad es increíble con los violines y el piano tan característicos que dan la melodía del tema. La particularidad es que acá escuchamos metales y un solo de estos violines el cual es realmente bueno. Y si a eso le sumamos una parte un poco acústica hace que este cover sea una joya entre joyas. El verdadero potencial de la voz y destreza de Seal se ve reflejado en este tema y si a eso le sumamos el sentimiento que le inyecta pues bueno, nos queda esto. Espero disfruten de este artista, es de los más grande de su época y que no debería de ser olvidado tan fácil.

I've always thought that songs performed live have a special magic and vibe, they never sound the same as their studio version, that's why I chose this one specifically. What stands out the most about this version is the feeling and passion with which he interprets each word, that's the magic of live. In itself Stand By Me is a song whose musicality is incredible with the violins and the piano so characteristic that give the melody of the song. The particularity is that here we hear brass and a solo of these violins which is really good. And if we add to that a little acoustic part, it makes this cover a jewel among jewels. The true potential of Seal's voice and skill is reflected in this song and if we add to that the feeling that he injects into it, well, we have this. I hope you enjoy this artist, he is one of the greatest of his time and should not be forgotten so easily.
