What will my anthem for 2024 be? This wraps up my three post sequence talking about the songs that summarized 2023 and set the stage for 2024. This post is all about my anthems for 2024. These are the songs that describe the way I want to experience this year and how I want to describe this year at its end. Thanks as always to @ablaze for hosting #threetunetuesday and for making this fun interactive experience possible for all of us.

It Is Well - Kristene DiMarco

I've always loved the hymn It Is Well With My Soul. My theme for this year is manifesting wellness. Therefore I had to find a version of the hymn to use as one of my anthems for the year. While I was searching for a version of that song to use for this post, I came across this version by Kristene DiMarco. I don't normally like praise choruses like this, but this one captured my attention. It's probably because I do love the hymn it is based on. My faith is definitely growing as a result of my cancer journey. I also know that all will be well as this journey continues because of my faith, modern medicine, and keeping a positive attitude throughout all the treatment.

Survivor - Destiny's Child

I was looking for Reba McEntire's "I'm a Survivor" but was reminded of Destiny's Child's Survivor which is an even better choice for the anthem I want to hold across this year. I've always loved the rhythm and harmony of this song. While the lyrics are likely about a man, they also apply to my cancer journey. I will be stronger and wiser after cancer. I will work harder. I am a survivor.

Fancy - Reba McEntire

Since I went a different direction on Survivor, I had to find a Reba song to summarize the year. Reba is one of my favorite artists and this is one of my favorite of her songs. I also just finished her book, Not that Fancy. It was fun to spend time with her talking in my ear as I listened to rather than read the book. So, this song is also a reminder to live a Not that Fancy life, have fun, and find joy in the world - and to keep reading!

I prefer the hymns over the praise choruses too. You can't really find many churches that sing them these days though. It's basically a rock concert at the church I grew up in. My brother in law's church is probably more traditional, but he only has like 14 people in his congregation. I do like the song Fancy, but I am not that much of a Reba fan. There's just something about her that I can't handle. I'm sure she's a great person.
