Marking the New Year - Three Songs for ThreeTuneTuesday

And just like that another year is coming to a close. For many people, New Year's Day is a time simply to recover from the partying of New Year's Eve. For me, however, this week between Christmas and New Year's Day is a time of reflection, planning, and visioning.

I've never chosen a song for the year but I think that's a missed opportunity. I'm going to ponder that idea and may present these next year for Three Tune Tuesday - what my finalists are for my song to celebrate all that happened in 2023 and then the following week I may find my song for 2024. I like this idea of using music to bookend the year. This also gives me two ideas to work on for my writing goals for 2024 which I've been thinking about this week. I have struggled with a content creation system and this is a definite focus for 2024.

But, for today, I want to simply share three songs that I think are fun for marking the New Year in different ways. Thanks as always to @ablaze for hosting #threetunetuesday. Let's take a look at those songs.

Raise Your Glass By Pink

"So raise your glass if you're wrong in all the right ways"

That's my favorite line out of that song! The lyrics, as is the case with most Pink songs, are not appropriate for all audiences. That said, I tend to love the rhythm of Pink songs. Raise Your Glass's chorus is a fun party anthem too.

Welcome to the Future by Brad Paisley

This is definitely not for a party but a song with a good message and one that I enjoy. I think about the future generation all the time with 9 great nieces and nephews who are, for another week, all still 10 and under. They are a reason I do so many things.

Shout by The Isley Brothers

This is a classically fun party song. I love classic songs like this that never go out of style and that every generation comes to love.

What are your favorite party and celebration songs? Have you ever picked a song for the year? What did you pick? Hit me up in the comments.

Shout used to be one of my go to songs for Karaoke back when I partook in that. Great selection of songs!
