Family Road Trip Diaries: Music, Food, and Beautiful Moments

Hello, my dear Hivers!

@itsmemic , once again! Today, I’m excited to share our family trip to the city! My dad planned for us to visit Simala to see Mama Mary of Lindogon.

The Journey Begins
But in this blog, I want to highlight our journey going there. This trip was also a much-needed family bonding moment for us. Since we’re all busy from Monday to Saturday, we set Sundays aside as our family day.

It turned out that leaving early in the morning was a great idea because by the time we arrived, it was already bright. As we passed through Catmon, my dad had music playing, and the vibes were just perfect! I could really feel the road trip mood. But while the music was playing, we were also chatting to keep the trip from getting boring.

A Quick Stop for Bibingka
A few hours later, as we reached Catmon, my dad asked us if we wanted to stop for some bibingka (rice cake). Of course, we all nodded and said, "Yes, Pa!"

We bought bibingka from a vendor along the national highway in Catmon. Even though it was still dark and drizzling, there were quite a few vendors selling it. My dad chose the slightly burnt ones because that’s how we like them!

The moment I tried to take a picture of it, my camera wouldn’t focus! I had to take multiple shots before finally getting a clear one.

And finally—success! I just timed it so I could take the photo when there was enough light for better quality.

Satisfying My Lechon Craving

image.png

Since the sun had risen by then and we hadn’t had breakfast yet, my dad pulled over when he saw a vendor selling lechon baboy (roast pig).

I was so happy because I had been craving it and missing its taste. There were a lot of customers, so my dad patiently line up.

When he came back, he also bought (pork blood stew), which was perfect because it was still warm.

And here’s my favorite part—lechon skin! Waaaah! Craving satisfied! While my dad was looking for a place where we could eat, I started eating little by little.

A Peaceful Moment & More Selfies
Meanwhile, my younger siblings were still fast asleep, sleeping so peacefully.

While waiting, I kept myself busy by taking pictures and selfies—just passing the time until my dad found a good spot for us to eat.

Finding the Perfect Spot
Finally, we found the perfect place! We had everything we needed—plates, utensils, rice, and more.

Here’s a glimpse of our parking spot, and after that, we just enjoyed our meal. We were so full!
