No Words, Just Music that Heals the Soul - Weekend Engagement #146

So you know when you hear a song and you like it so mucho that you end up following all the artist work? That happened to me with this duo. Maybe you've heard of them, The Civil Wars; with John White and Joy Williams.

But you're not here to read about them, but about their music. Among all of their songs, songs that I've listened so many times, there's one that got me so deep that sometimes it is undescribable the feelings I get from it.

This is an instrumental piece, there's no voices, just instruments and passion. This song is called The Violet Hour. For me, that I'm a Spanish speaker, the meaning of it is something dark. In this song, I can hear violins, a cello, a piano, and a guitar, and maybe I'm losing from other instruments, but that's what I perceive.

Now, you want to know why is that I like this song so much. I just don't like it, I love it. It's a soft music, and it takes its pauses and it really dig in my soul. When I hear it, I feel calm and my thoughts start to rumble in millions of words. That may sound contradictory, but for me, it makes sense. I also get this pressure on my chest, like if the song was made to say a goodbye. Its name itself, I can say that it's the end of something. And as a writer, music is one of the things that makes me get a pencil and paper and write anything that's on my mind.

I get feelings of sadness too, and it doesn't desperate me. On the contrary, it fills me because I'm not happy all the time, and when I hear it, it feels liberating, like I can get all the pain out my chest, like I can produce a nice poem, like I can be me for these 3:25 minutes. The Violet Hour, from The Civil Wars is a song that every one should listen to.
