My Mom Attended her First Concert Experience with David Cook

Hi, Ladies of Hive! This is the first time to publish content for the Ladies of Hive community. So please, be nice to me. Hehe!

Sharing with you a story of my mom's first concert she attended. My mother has gone already since February 2019 so I am writing this in her memory. <3

My mother used to watch American Idol as she loved to watch singing contests. Among whom she was familiar was David Cook. When I learned that David Cook was having a concert in Cebu City, I told her about it. Usually, concert tickets for international artists are expensive. Suddenly, I found a deal that would let me pay a 50% discount.

At first, she was hesitant because she never wanted me to spend money. But I convinced her that we should go because this 50% discount was such a good deal.

Since it was so cheap, I paid for three tickets, for my mother, my sister, and me.

Who is David Cook?

According to Wikipedia:

David Roland Cook (born December 20, 1982) is an American rock singer-songwriter.[1] Cook rose to fame after winning the seventh season of American Idol in 2008.

Prior to Idol, Cook formed a high school band that released three studio albums and four live albums before releasing his first solo independent album, Analog Heart. After winning American Idol, he released his debut single "The Time of My Life", which entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts at number three and at number two on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, selling over 1.4 million copies and being certified platinum by the RIAA.

I found a YouTube video on the same concert we were in

I was using an Olympus digital camera so all my photos were blurred. It looked like we were so far but we were not. We could see his face. Just so happened we were not at the VIPs. I purchased the Bronze ticket. This was also the realization that I should buy a DSLR camera in the future.

This happened in July 2012. Haha! So long time ago!

The concert of David Cook was held at Waterfront Cebu Hotel.

There should be more concerts in Cebu

As someone who used to live in Cebu at that time, I kept on wishing that there should be more concerts from international artists. That was my goal, to enjoy this kind of lifestyle. I wasn't a fan of watching any concerts of Filipino artists. Mostly they were held in Manila, but no sense in flying there just to watch a concert. It was expensive.

I was lucky that I could easily find cheap deals in the last few days before the concert. I heard somebody saying in the same Bronze seats that they paid the original price but I just paid half. Hehe!

Of course, my mom was happy to watch a concert of one of the American Idols. Some relatives thought I had so much money to buy concert tickets. Well, the price for each ticket was PHP 650.

So, watching a concert doesn't have to be expensive.

I haven't been to many concerts. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Creed, and Metallica. They are expensive and yes you got heck of a deal 650 pesos. I've been lucky to be at places where there have been free performances like the park I wrote about it recently. They were bands/singers that are a bit old like Bruce Springsteen, Beach Boys, and other bands I wouldn't pay money to see.

Glad your mother got to attend and enjoy :)
