A week ago, I posted my photo collection of street musicians from Europe. Now let's take a look at some others I captured during my travels in the Americas. They are from the US, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil and Cuba.

Unlike the buskers in my previous post, some of them here are not street musicians in the sense of performing in public for tips. Instead, they are simply having fun while practising for a show or playing at a festival.

In the Brazilian city of Salvador, two local vendors were playing berimbau and drums in a square while also selling the instruments. I bought a colourful wooden berimbau from them and practised a little. It was not as easy for me as it was for them. They could make beautiful music out of it, whereas I could only make random noises.XD

The berimbau is a single-string percussion bow that is popular in Brazil. It has been incorporated into the Afro-Brazilian martial art capoeira. The capoeirista moves faster as the music gets faster. I've also seen Brazilian immigrants performing capoeira in European cities, which appears to be a fun art form.

A Peruvian pan flute was another instrument I tried my hands (and mouth) on in magical South America. If you've ever been to the Andes, you know how perfectly enchanting music like El Condor Pasa fits into the pipes and the magnificent mountains. In Peru, I saw street musicians playing pan flutes and purchased folk music CDs from them. But I can't seem to find photos of them... maybe I didn't take any at the time.

This is amazing!! I love those pictures!! It’s pretty cool the idea of catching the people singing in different moments, with different instruments. I enjoyed the post a lot!
