A Tale of Unrequited Love and Psychological Entanglement

He's adamant that he loves Folake and he doesn't care what she does, who she sleeps with, or if she has viruses or not. She's the one who makes his heart beat really fast, so everyone is mindlessly spreading gossip that he's not interested in, but wants to live as one with Folake.

You see when I listened to the lyrics of this song, it was interesting to see the display of psychology that Robert Greene taught me in his book, The Art of Seduction. The thing is no matter how the internet tries to place a dent on love, our reality is different.

In reality, you will see someone in an abusive marriage or relationship whom you would think should take care of their mental health and leave but doesn't. They prefer to stay in those relationships even when they are badly treated and are less human. The few drops of affection that they get from their oppressor make them hopeful that it will continue.

Their oppressors know exactly how that works. In the book, the Art of Manipulation, if you read it, you will learn about the part where someone is addicted to their partners. And it's already clear that they will not be able to get out of that relationship even when they are treated badly. Oppressors use what the author calls intermittent reinforcement. An art of small and timely show of love and affection that keeps their victim trapped in an unending cycle of expectations.

Those timely show of affection will butter up their victim who would believe that if they could be this kind today, then, there's hope that they will be treated better in the future. But it's a trap because being good to people at all times makes them ungrateful and the rest of the negative saga you can think of according to the author of that book

In the case of Folake and our artist, I sense an intermittent reinforcement, maybe, there have been times that Folake paid attention to him among the crowd of people she should be associated with and he couldn't help feeling as though there's something there. So he stays his entire life, hoping that Folake will show more affections that could lead to them ending up together.

There's another catch. It's the part where Robert Greene says, people always want something that belongs to other people. So, I would say, if intermittent fasting isn't what Folake uses to tie this man down, then, it's the thought of stealing Folake from the rest of the world and having her all to himself that's worrying him. This is because I can't seem to think of any other reason someone sane would want to throw away his health for Folake.

This song is my favorite song, in the midst of sexually influenced songs that I have listened to. This is because it's our reality. We hold onto the hopes of getting the love that is out of our reach. And we might be caught waiting for many years for the other person to come around even when we know it's less likely to happen.

It's how women or men in side relationships stay grounded in their relationship with married people hoping that they will leave their wives or husbands for them. It's a psychological thing and it takes a lot of courage to break away especially if the person whom we love shows us a few breaths of affection and attention.

Those who win this game are the ones giving out the timely love and affection, not the receiver. But the biggest winner is a receiver who suddenly realizes the trap they are in, and fights with their emotions to let go. If they can let go of whatever hopes they have been holding unto then I feel they will be the biggest winners 🏆
