Adjusting some rewards seeing as your main upvotes are from a backscratcher trail which its primary function is to vote-trade with, the content here not really being content, just you sharing some music videos daily, most of them being cross-posts from a chain which pretty much goes against many of Hive's goals, lack of engagement and trying to build an audience, probably cause you're just trailing backscratcher and farming daily votes, think those were enough reasons. Hope you'd consider using the platform the way it's meant to be used rather than trying to maximize rewards through these ways you've been doing lately.

@acidyo Hey, in my eyes I don't see it as justice. I thought Backscratcher was a good thing, a service that rewards people for holding Hive, which in turn is beneficial for the platform. I have thousands invested into HIVE. It may not be a lot in comparison to what others are holding, but to me it is. And me sharing good music with people is something that I really care about, I tried to make it a post where others can contribute, and others can come to the posts for new music discovery and hopefully engage with me and share some back. You easily could have dropped a song or listened to one of mine and I would have gave you a 100% upvote and engaged with you. As you can see I do with anyone that has found my posts and contributed to them. I don't have an evil agenda against HIVE, I've been here since its conception after the hardfork. I've just been using this decentralized free platform as I see fit. I'm not claiming that I know a crazy amount about how everything works, as I'm sure you and all of the other witnesses are very well versed. I don't know how to get others to engage with me more. I give incentives with a full 100% upvote for whoever interacts with me, while also sharing music that I love. I seen no harm with what I was doing. I thought being rewarded for being heavily staked into something as a fair idea.

If you weren't aware of why a service like backscratcher isn't good I apologize for having to break it down to you, but it's usually something most people figure out given how curation and interactions work on hive in general.

Either way, being staked in hive is nice and there is a more "guaranteed" reward for doing so, which comes either in curation rewards (~8.5% APR) or HP inflation (~3% APR). The problem with backscratcher is that you automatically vote for people in exchange for their votes back, it's a sort of "blind" way to reward/distribute stake to then in a calculated/predictable way receive those votes you give out back to your post. This effectively means that even tho you only post once per day, you're indirectly giving yourself 10 of your daily votes (all upvote mana) back to yourself. Backscratcher just hides it in the form that you give 1 vote to 10 other people and they in turn give you 1 vote on your post that day.

This defeats the purpose of curation and guarantees a return where you also maximize post rewards of your own stake. This may be something that works on Steem where curation is close to non-existent and stake is all that matters, but here we're trying to make curation and proof of brain to work. The main issue is that what you do requires you to not put in any effort to generate content or build an audience, you don't have to go out and interact with people, follow them, get a follow back, curate them, maybe get curated back, etc, which would make post rewards a bit more unreliable and a form of "give and take" the way it is meant to be.

This results in you being "okay" with receiving higher APR than others who are putting their votes to work properly and may result in you getting that one daily post out just to maximize on post rewards (pretty much your own votes along with some other side trails/autovotes). Basically the extra APR you receive comes at the cost of those not doing similar activities of trading votes either manually or through services like backscratcher or through some services where you delegate and get upvotes based on your delegation but ignoring curation of each and every post you create.

I think @daltono was a long time ago on a similar service and I'm sure he can back me up when I tell you that letting go of it and giving the community and platform a proper social try instead is going to be worth it a lot more than this method you seem to have become content with.

Hope you'll reconsider.

I definitely agree. There are so many other ways to go about curation than a trail that votes for a lot of garbage. Trust me when I say you will be much better off if you leave Backscratcher. I was worried about rewards disappearing, but when you’re doing the right thing good curators tend to notice that.

I don’t think @acidyo is coming at you too harshly. Sometimes we need the brutal truth to wake up from a bad habit.

As for the rest of your comment, try curating and engaging with posts in the many music communities on hive, I'm sure it'll get people to give you a follow and engage with you on your posts that may have more reasonable upvotes if you jumped off that service until you got more engagement over time for it to naturally come back from many different users in occasion cause they want to reward you rather than doing it cause the service you signed up for is giving them part of your daily voting power.

@acidyo Man honestly, this has done nothing but discourage me, its pretty disheartening to have every one of my posts practically zeroed out by someone who is pretty hefty and well connected. Are you guys currently downvoting all of the people who are involved with Backscratcher? Or was I just singled out? I noticed that you did this right after I took my witness vote away from you.

I've noticed that the tribalism on Hive is pretty prevalent in a negative way in my opinion. This is supposed to be a platform built upon freedom, and people shouldn't be strong armed just because they aren't doing exactly what you are doing. Or their mentality doesn't align with yours. I'm an average laymen that is making an effort to water my investments in my free time and trying to be involved with a newer technology that I believe in.

This "literally" has made me just want to pull out my investments and go elsewhere. I realize who you are, and that you are practically a political figure on here with tons of pull and influence. I know now that I will be targeted and probably harassed because I have been labeled as someone who has completely took advantage of the system.

There's only so much time in a day, while I'd gladly look at others using the service and intervene you did catch my attention due to the witness unvote that's true. You would've caught my attention by a witness vote as well, matter of the fact doesn't change that you're doing what I said you're doing and it goes against what Hive stands for that many agree with.

Downvotes should be encouragement and the long reply I left you should also considered that I care and want you to do better. Going around downvoting doesn't give me any joy or reward me in any way, I'd just want what's best for the community and at the same time yourself, do with that what you will.

The fact that this is your decision and reaction to a few small downvotes after months of milking your own votes through vote trading tells me more than I need to know.

90% of my votes were done manually. Distributed to all kinds of different people that I found fit. There has been no months of milking going on. Those downvotes might be small to you. Its a pretty big deal to me. Also this was just the straw that broke the camels back. I've seen a lot of unneeded aggression and mob mentality going on that has grossed me out. Tribalism isn't always a good thing. It's the root of many problems in the World. And you're continued shot firing tells me that I'm right in my decision to leave.

You have literal daily posts of close to no content while on a trail whose name literally means you get all your votes back. Most of your posts have no interactions, even if you rewarded those few that do. You have two handful of comments the past couple years.

If my downvotes seem that bad to you, the upvotes you've been receiving seem even worse to me. This isn't a place where "hey I bought this much stake so now I'm going to make sure I can upvote myself with all of it through some schemes that make it look like I'm not", post rewards aren't guaranteed and they shouldn't be constant no matter what you produce. If that was the case then there would be no point to have content to begin with and just run pure proof of stake.

My downvotes don't even cover a fraction of the unfair rewards you've gotten away with while bringing close to no value to our social media platform. Fair would be to downvote you for longer to make up for the months but that's being petty and I tried to explain to you why that's not welcomed here and why it goes against proof of brain and the standards of curation people have set here.

Man, look passed the last month that I started my music sharing thread. All of my content was completely my own. I was designing clothing, and canvas prints, making videos, doing photography. I've actually provided tons of great content to this platform. You are definitely over exaggerating. It seems like you are just mad at me for some reason and wanting to shit on me for some reason. I'm not the villan you are painting me out to be, just because I was on Backscratcher. At least do me that justice to save me some face.

I did notice those posts, I also noticed you didn't post them in any related communities. Had I noticed them at the time I would've recommended you do so so you'd receive some traffic from people interested in the subject rather than most if not all of them getting no consumption. This could've lead to some natural curation as well rather than just the backscratching. Maybe you could've realized then why going out and curating others is important, dunno.

It's not too late to give it a try, everyone makes mistakes, no need to "save face" when you can just stop the current activities and put your voting power to use and give back to the community and go from there.

If not, then, you know, not trying to be a dick but that stake is probably better used on someone else in the future.

Hive curation is very welcoming when people put an effort into it, you could just as well power down and sell it all, make it look like I'm some asshole who chased you away and in the same go I or a project of mine will be there to welcome you to the community on a new account you'd maybe consider trying something else with, something along the lines of what I suggested. You won't even have to power up any stake and receive rewards and curation based on your effort, that's the magic behind using it well rather than everyone just scratching their own backs and ignoring everything else.

For years it has been my own original laborious content. I just wish you would have noticed me then. Instead of this new music thread I was attempting to let gain traction.

I wish that too, it's most likely due to the tag usage only that most curators didn't.

I didn't realize it mattered what was posted; it's still content being shared. @intrepidthinker, you've invested a ton into this platform and it's pretty sad to see you get treated like this.

If it didn't matter then whales would have posts with 1 picture on trending daily, new users wouldn't receive curation cause everyone was busy upvoting themselves to even out the APR some people were giving themselves, etc. Steemit's trending is a pretty good example of this.

So now all my comments are being targeted and being downvoted just because I agreed with @intrepidthinker?

Dunno why you're being targeted with downvotes, not related to my issue probably.

Could be it's about the upvoter, I censored his username from my post where I used him as an example in a topic recently, maybe someone was extra curious. Either way, I'm sure it's not an ongoing issue if you get curated by others.

You may have censored (not used) the names, but seems one way or another others are still looking into it "out of curiosity" and for my account (or my face) to be on your post is kinda not cool. I didn't do anything wrong and now my account is being attacked for zero reason.

Looks like the votes happened before my post so doubt it's cause your face is in my post, I can cover that part up if you'd like as I didn't give the censoring enough diligence. I can't really control who reads my comments and how they choose to act based upon it, and neither can I choose how your upvoter acted after my downvotes and comments asking him to reconsider his activity. Voting is 50% curation and 50% post rewards, so there's a high chance it's about the upvoters curation rewards in this case rather than your comments' content.

What's the point though? They're downvoting me just because "upvoter" upvoted my comment? Isnt that abuse of the platform? I mean, my account is tiny, and you might as well say I'm a newbie. I'm just trying to wrap my head around it.

To remove his curation rewards I suppose. Happens some times, not all downvotes are great similar to how some upvotes can seem like abuse as well. Either way, edited the screenshot in my post, hope you guys give Hive a proper try eventually.

I appreciate the edit, and words of advice. I hope one day people can find a platform that's free to post what they want. Not everyone is knowledgeable about how the system works, so therefore there's room for mistakes, in which people shouldn't be penalized for.

There are platforms that don't care about these things at all, I personally think that encourages much worse behavior and removes a lot of the magic of this place. Don't think they have a lot of potential for growth but best of luck.

I hope one day people can just be kind and help one another. If there was rules, or a class to help one learn the "proper" ways of Hive, then I'm sure there wouldn't be many discrepancies. We're all just human, and striving for success in this vast world.

That's what I was doing, it's kind of weird to me that people react the way they do to a few downvotes after someone tells them that they way they've been doing things has caused them to unfairly earn rewards most others wouldn't get for the same activity.

Instead of just taking it personally and instantly quitting by the looks of it, maybe listen to what people possibly more experienced are trying to advise. Under other circumstances I would've gladly curated some of the original content with effort you guys had put out, some of that curation would've covered weeks of those other daily posts and especially what the recent downvotes have removed. Anyway, the rabbit hole is indeed deep and learning everything takes a while. Doesn't mean you gotta give up on the first mistake though unless you want to continue previous activity at all cost but realize you can't anymore.

PS. I watched that movie (in the music video) regrettably only to see what would happen if the moon crashed into earth from a recommendation of someone on Reddit once.
