Hive Open Mic Week 178 - Orang Pinggiran (Rock Cover) by IndonesiaBersatu

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Hello, dear brothers and sisters of the Hive Open Mic Community. Greetings and blessings to us all. It's great to be back and participating in the weekly #openmic event which has entered its 178th week. So, this week we have a pretty good theme, which is "People" chosen by our friend here @benii. This is an interesting theme, so I brought a cover song called, "Orang Pinggiran" or "Fringe people". This song was written and popularized by Iwan Fals and Franky Sahilatua in 1995. So, it's an old song.

Since this week's theme is "people", I would like to explain about the "Fringe people" in the song that I cover. "Fringe people" is an expression that refers to poor and marginalized people. Fringe people are those who are forgotten, and who live on the edge of society. They face harsh realities every day. City sidewalks are their home, city buses are their daily commute, and factories are where they make their living.

Under the unforgiving heat of the sun, they tread the muddy streets with steady steps. Despite living in difficult conditions, they find happiness in simple things like singing and dancing. The songs they sing are not just words, but also songs of the heart filled with the desire for a better life. Their dances are not just physical movements, but also soul dances that reflect resilience and perseverance. They are like babies crying in the night, seeking warmth in an often harsh and inhospitable life.

When times are lonely and they have been left alone, they lie down and wish to fulfil their dreams. In the silence of the night, they gaze up at the seemingly indifferent sky. But even though the sky may be indifferent, tomorrow morning still comes, bringing new hope that makes them rise again. People on the margins are examples of perseverance and persistence in the face of a difficult life. They are people who never give up in their search for happiness and a better life, despite the obstacles they face. Below are the song lyrics and translation;

Indonesian Lyric

Orang pinggiran
Ada di trotoar
Ada di bis kota
Ada di pabrik pabrik

Orang pinggiran
Di terik mentari
Di jalan becek
Menyanyi dan menari

Lagunya nyanyian hati
Tarinya tarian jiwa
Seperti tangis bayi dimalam hari

Sepinya waktu kala sendiri
Sambil berbaring meraih mimpi
Menatap langit langit tak perduli
Sebab esok pagi kembali

English Translate Lyric

Fringe people
On the sidewalk
On the city bus
It's in a factory

Fringe people
In the hot sun
On the muddy road
Singing and dancing

The song is the song of the heart
The dance of the soul
Like the cry of a baby at night

Lonely time when alone
Lying down to dream
Staring at the sky, you don't care
Because tomorrow morning comes back

Thank you very much for watching and listening to my cover song today. I hope, from this cover song that I played, everyone can understand the real life of Fringe people. I recorded this song with several devices. I made the drum sound with the RealDrum app on my Android phone. I also used my friend's acoustic guitar and added distortion effects in Adobe Audition editing software. Until the final stage, I put the audio and visuals together using Adobe Premiere Pro software. Thank you very much, greetings and blessings.

Below is the original version of the song from Iwan Fals

Wow bro!, it's amazing how much you can accomplish on your own and still keep the essence of the band, bravo! Thanks for being an important member of this community, I'm glad to know that there are several rock exponents around here. I send you a hug and my wishes for a great day for you...

My brother of Rock, I understand very well the feeling of this song because in my native country Venezuela I could see the suffering of thousands of families in subhuman and extreme conditions, because of the shitty politicians who "claim to govern", when what they do is bring more hunger and misery in areas where it should not exist...

I admire what you have been doing musically, you are doing something incredible and as my Bro Jesús Linares says, you keep intact the essence of Indonesia Bersatu 🔥🔥🔥... you are great brother... I send you a big hug from this part of the world 🤜🤛... You Fuc&%$ Rockkk!!!! 👊😎🔥🎙️🎸🎶❤️🌟🍻💥💫

thank you very much my brother. I am very sad to hear the news of the people being oppressed by the government. This song was released in 1995, at that time our country was led by a cruel and greedy dictator. at that time I was 2 years old, and did not understand anything, but history and historical witnesses from my family say that the era of 98 and below was a cruel era. I can't let go of the punk rock genre in every music I bring. warm hugs for you.
