These powerful lyrics from Tatiana Manaois’ classic music which was released in 2015 speaks directly to the depressed and youths who feel they are not good enough.

It’s slowly becoming a trend over here where youths in their 20s are put under some kind of pressure, it is assumed that in your 20s you are supposed to have gotten your life all figured out, be married and rich before you get past your 20s and this can be pretty suffocating, age 30 gradually feels like the deadline for achieving great things. A lot of youths have been pushed into depression because they feel they are not good enough or they feel left behind.

Tatiana’s songs are always calm and soothing yet hold strong messages. Like they say good music is medicine to the soul and Tatiana’s music is not an exception. They leave you motivated and happy whenever you listen to them. You are forced to see things differently each time you listen to her songs.

Like You has been my all-time favorite song, it was my ringtone for many years until recently, I have been listening to this song since yesterday, and every minute it replays in the background it strikes a chord in me.

Like You preaches on the uniqueness of an individual. In a society where insecurity and inferiority complex seem to now be the order of the day and as 1 out of 8 persons is dealing with inferiority complex and getting wallowed in peer pressure, this song serves as a reminder that no matter what you are dealing with there’s no one in this world that can be you, not even your doppelgänger that exists somewhere on earth, you are the only version that ever graced the surface of the earth. It also makes us understand that the only way we can bask in the euphoria of being the “only version” is by accepting that we truly are unique, not second-guessing ourselves or being uncomfortable in our own skin.

People will find you, but they don't define you

Often times we get swayed by the people we meet, in order to fit in we gradually become a shadow of ourselves, we compromise our standards and do crazy things just to feel among. These so-called people we wish to be like aren’t even better than us if we look closely. Slowly but progressively their values begin to define us and we eventually get lost in the process.
This song admonishes us to never let people define us no matter who they are or where we find ourselves.
