I've only listened to a couple of songs, thanks to your (much appreciated) recommendation, but I must admit, this has made me hungry for more. Time to bring out the big overear headphones for this one, huh?

Meanwhile, been listening to the new Florence album today which, to me, is nothing short of fantastic. Sympathy Magic and Buckle blow my mind. So do Drink Deep and Witch Dance. There's something out of this world but also incredibly real and defiant in this. What do you think? Did you have time to listen? :)

Buckle.

I listened to it in full last night when I was mega tired following Halloween (I dressed up as Jesus, with a copy of origin of Species, instead of the bible!) - and I like it, but I do not like it as much as her previous work.

I liked the abstract metaphor and simile in prior song writing, the more direct approach strikes me as more humorous than serious, but perhaps that's just a coping mechanism (as a man) - to the highly feminine focus of Welch's new record.

I need to dive into it deeper, but it does question me as to how deeply I am in touch with the femme, and the album challenges me to suggest that the answer might be "not enough".
