Just a Nothing Child | TTT

I missed a week of #TTT, and I must admit I missed it more than I thought I would. Music's been, as ever, a part of my life, but a lot has been claiming my attention at the moment, so here's just a quick musical check-in. Being perfectly honest, the only song on my mind these past couple of days has been "I'm Just Ken" from the Barbie Movie, and I'm okay with that. I've accepted my fate as a victim of the capitalist machine. Just kidding. It's just a fun song, yet it's not making it onto my Three Tune Tuesday selection. It's too commercial for my taste.

Breaking -- Rosemarie

As soon as I stumbled upon this gem, I knew I wanted to talk about it on the blockchain. There's something phenomenally appealing about this lady. She's at once deeply emotional, but also giving off distinct fuck you vibes, which appeals to me. What I'm seeing here...

I know the song is about grief, and it's wonderful in that. But for me, what I'm seeing is, doing love in your own way.

I long for peace while I'm on the ground

...resonates with efforts in my life to change the things that are keeping me stuck. To break free of old patterns, and dismantle what no longer serves. Relationships, certainly, but also thinking mechanisms that are faulty, and coping mechanisms that, while appealing, may be unhealthy.

I've been having a bunch of interesting conversations lately. A lot of honesty, and they made me see good things. They gave me strength and solidified some ideas about moving on and carving my own truth that had been kicking around in my mind for some time.

In a way, that's where this song strikes for me. Carving your own truth. Looking back on hurtful encounters, actions, moments, but walking away. Walking forward.

Time don’t heal
Cause it hurts the same

It don't. Not as long as you won't heal yourself.

Last Train to Nowhere

Not typically a country person, but there's something about the rugged guitar and the violin accords on this one that just speaks to me. Or maybe it's just the hot lead singer. Who knows. Seriously though, dude's got a great, powerful voice, and so these guys have been on my background listening for a few days now.

If we're continuing along the psyche reading, if Rosemarie's tune above is what tells you it's okay to move on, this song from Ghost Hounds is the one you take along for the ride. In the end, you never take the soft spoken feely one along, but the voice that's gonna give you strength to keep walking. No idea if that makes sense to anyone but me. that can be said about much in my life, now that I think of it.

Saved (?)

Is what this song makes me feel like. Jac Ross has been slipping in and out of my musical consciousness for a few weeks now. Initially discovered him through a collaboration with Teddy Swims and X Ambassadors, and kept meaning to check him out as a solo singer, but always forgot.

Then this popped into my feed, and I figured it was a sign. This song makes me want to cry. Or rather, Jac's voice does. 'Cause it feels like church for the godless. Like absolution worn from the inside out, and a place of such holiness no pastor's ever walked. All his songs are phenomenal, and discovering people like him is ultimately what makes me really hopeful about the world.

No matter where my mind is at, or what's going on on a personal level, I find an artist with this kind of voice, and I get a little hopeful about the future. There's hope. Not just in the existence of such artists, but in the fact that they're succeeding. That they're spreading their light into a world that needs it.

Bonus: Little Child Runnin' Wild

When I need to get back, and reconnect with my own vibration, I turn up some Curtis Mayfield. The Pusherman was a cool-ass artist, but more than that, he was a prophet. I think he talked about a lot of things that rise up from deep inside the human spirit.

Looking over these tunes, I see a search for meaning, for approval, for salvation. For dancing to your own tune. And what better way to do that than with this tune?

Technically breaking the rules, but I know @ablaze won't mind, because he's cool. Also cool for creating this challenge. As always, thank you, my friend, for that.

##And thanks for listening. What are you listening to?

After reading through the entire seven hundred and something words on this post, I found myself taking deep breaths while thinking of the perfect way to describe how I feel about this piece in words but I still can't place hands on the right descriotive word to type. All in all, I'll just sum it up with by saying that every writing of yours I've read is fun, it soothes and it's always fact-full. Thanks for sharing this, honestly 💜.

Wow! These were just fantastic songs. The song by Rosemarie has similar vibes to and reminds me of Tracy Chapman. And I concur about typically bypassing country music, but you've found a gem here. I like that one.

Always good to hear your reflections, mixed in with great tunes and what's better they were all new tunes to me too, which is an added bonus. Rosemarie is very talented, I've heard of her, but had not heard this song.

Music's been, as ever, a part of my life, but a lot has been claiming my attention at the moment, so here's just a quick musical check-in.

Ya life can get hectic at times and it seems hard to get everything done. I love that Music is always there for us to dive into though, whatever mood grabs us.
