If both factions celebrate death, I'll be factionless.
We all search for community. We all wish, desperately, for a place to belong, a group to have our back, and support our narratives. I found that group during harsh pandemic times, when moving from one protest to another seemed the only sane thing to do. And naturally, in an oppressive dictatorship, one begins to idolize one's Robin Hoods, those bold enough to stick it to the system. I thought then, in my youthful naivety, these are my people, and for a good few months, what they said was law, in my eyes.
With good reason. They were figures who showed me I could rebel, that if the cops stopped me for not obeying bullshit illegal "laws", I should keep my head high and proud.
I'll take that lesson, and move along now.
I was already somewhat put off by my former "heroes", as they've moved through the local political scene and chosen strange, unseemly bedfellows. Tonight, my off feeling got confirmed, as I saw multiple "alternative" channels I follow rejoice at the death of Sinead O'Connor.
My lips scowl as I type. What kind of a sick, twisted person rejoices at that news? She was so young, and so beautiful, and so broken. It's not even just mean to rejoice, it's outright cruel and stupid. Immediately, my anti-vax clay figures (for that is all they are) started quoting Sinead's apparent support of the vaccine back in 2022. I thought, really?. Seriously? Almost with this glee, they noted how she was fully vaccinated, and how she'd now died "in unknown circumstances".
It's heartbreaking, but I don't think there's a single person on this earth who, taking note of this superb woman still has doubts over those circumstances. To use that information to further your own political narrative turns the stomach.
Or rather, no. After all, big politicians have been doing it for years. Trump. Biden. Our own modest, moronic president. Macron. Everyone does it. Climbing over the bodies for personal gain. I suppose what turned my stomach was not the act itself, but the depressive realization that there are no figureheads. No true good people. That all who will come to lead us will do so for personal gain. As if saving the entire fucking civilization from collapse were something to turn your nose at. Apparently, not enough of an incentive for some.
The sickening comments got me thinking about choosing sides. It seems a few of my recent posts come back to this, propaganda. Information, or rather, the manipulation of. Even in the above discourse, you clearly see the pattern: anti-vax, pro-vax. Anti-war, pro-war (is anyone really pro-war?). Me against you. Always the same.
It's interesting, this discourse. And I suppose since this brave, extraordinary woman fell into "their" side, I should what? Rejoice at her passing? What a sickening thought, and yet a sturdy wake-up call. Always, when you find yourself standing with someone who rejoices at someone's demise, even when it's the perceived enemy, it's time to move the fuck along, you know?
Throughout the pandemic, I steered well clear of any kind of discourse that rejoiced at death. Even if the person in question might've rejoiced at my own, had our seats been reversed. And there was a lot of that going on. A lot of incentive. They'd gladly let you die, lose your job, so naturally you should be happy. Seems like easy-to-spot BS to me, though I've seen a lot of people buy it. These "alt" figures do have fans and followers who wholeheartedly approve these hateful messages. Why shouldn't they? The person who died was not, evidently, on the correct side, so they must've deserved it.
The enemy always deserves to die. No reprieve, no questions asked. No second chances. That's precisely the sort of discourse we need to steer away from. Whether you're with a cause or against it.
Whether you love Zelensky or not.
Whether you got vaxxed or not.
Whether you're pro-life or pro-choice.
Whether you vote red or blue or fucking stripey yellow.
As long as you think the other "side" deserves to die for their choices, you are the enemy.
I was gonna say there are no sides, but there are. There's the human side, and those who would endanger and subjugate it. The real enemy. Most of us - about 99% - are on the human side. The rest is smoke and mirrors.
Safe travels, beautiful alien.
Well said.
That pisses me off so much. I was reading about her this morning here in Australia as we woke up to the news. I loved reading about her sexuality, her mental health, her childhood, her brazen fuck you attitude, how she always tried to live life on HER terms. I've always admired her as she seemed so REAL.
We need to get back to practicing compassion the way we practice trying to look good and win arguments online and stop falling into the 'either/or' trap as if that's the only choice.
I love this. YES. Practicing compassion is what it's all about, not just when our differences are small, but precisely when they're noticeable. Obviously I'm gonna like the people who agree with me and tell me how right I am. Was there ever a time when people didn't?
Very sad news. Have you read her memoir? I think it only came out a couple years ago and it's extremely moving. And beautifully written. Probably the most "real" autobiography I've ever read. She had such a voice (and not just how she sang).
Thank you, my friend <3

Thank you so very much!
Reason why I quit politics...noticed that all some people lacked was the opportunity to take things to the extreme.
These days I rather focus on my family and fill my mind with thoughts of it, and my finances.
When it comes to people don't be surprised how low we can go
I keep hoping they wouldn't. Naive of me, really. I agree, focusing on our own private circle and world is in many cases much healthier.
Thank you for that. Genuinely. <3

Well said. This is it, in a nutshell.
I remember how Sinead O'Conner was vilified by the media in the early 90's...cancelled before "cancel culture" was even a glimmer in anyone's eye. Like a lot of great artists, she was a few decades ahead of her time. Us, who are on humanity's side need to find a way to prevent our ignorance from being weaponized. The pandemic was a masterclass in this.
She was. It's insane to me that everyone is now oh so teary-eyed when for years, she was treated rather cruelly, I thought. Exiled from the mainstream by her "radical" stance, all my life, all the articles I've read of her have been treating her like a fringe loony. Even now, the MSM seems to be turning it into a spectacle (it's off-putting, seeing someone's private affairs and tragedies picked apart like that).
It was. I think it showed everyone just how easy it is to succumb to a narrative. It also showed a lot of people they were capable of things they wouldn't have thought possible before.
Yes, I agree. It also cracks me up how so many on social media (Facebook) jump on the bandwagon to lament any celebrity who dies and acts as if they're their most favorite person on the planet. The only one who affected me that deeply, strangely, was Anthony Bourdain. I think because it was so unexpected.
For sure. Looking back there were many other instances throughout the decades where we were blatantly lied to but this recent one took the cake. I want to read RFK Jr's book on Fauci. I think I'll order the audiobook so I can listen on flights. I wonder what's really going on with these UFO disclosures in America? I mean, is the whistleblower real, is it a controlled release of info that's been suppressed for decades, or something else?
One more…
It was so shocking. I think it was also 'cause he seemed this badass rockstar-type person, I think no one could believe it, you know?
I'm not sure about the whole UFO thing. I hear some people saying it's a distractionof some sort, but I can't figure it. It is a bit weird... why now?If it is from the 30s as they say, why right now? Always trying to consider that. I mean I'm sure there are all these official explanations, oaths and what not, but I don't really believe that. I guess we'll wait and see, eh?
Yeah, Bourdain was just so authentic that he seemed impervious to the pressures of life. For me it was a stark reminder of our fragility, I think.
I actually think that there's a reasonably good chance it's real and their hand was forced by these whistleblowers. Whenever money is involved there's a paper trail no matter how hard they try to conceal it. Someone was finally smart enough to go at it from this angle. There are definitely trillions of taxpayer dollars unaccounted for that disappeared into the abyss. At best it's a massive misappropriation of funds, at worst it's something that will rewrite our conception of reality.
Yes!
The propaganda is designed to turn neighbor against neighbor. It's extremely important that we not buy into that! I'm sorry to hear this news, and mourn the loss of a beautiful person who did not share my medical views. Not sharing views is true diversity. Seems we are being trained/programmed to look different but think alike.
Thank you for writing this.
Exactly! What's valiant and tolerant about liking people who agree with everything you say already, right? In a way, I get it. If you want to move masses, you need to appeal to base instincts (such as hating on X over such small differences). But that's also keeping the masses at heel, you know? Maybe they look upon these figures, hoping to learn something, and if these leading figures reduce said masses to these base, alienating emotions, no wonder they'll never rise higher. We're often defined by how people we trust see us. How little or how much we think of a person plays an untold role in how they develop.
Thank you for stopping by, my dear <3
Wow, I must have been under a rock, I didn’t know Sinead had died.
Thanks for the share. We so often find ourselves in these conflicted places in this brave new world
Sorry to be the one to break the news, then. Sometimes, it's preferable to be under that rock when sad news awaits without. Thank you for stopping by! :)
Such reactions from people rile me up, then I remember that people always seek attention to try and be relevant. People judge and speak of celebrities as if they knew them or had personal conversations about their views. I didn't know too much about the controversy around her, but I was a big fan. She was way ahead of her time, indeed.
It's obscene how people seem to forget celebrities are also people. I mean, it's fine (I guess) if you're gonna go after their dating or what not, but to pour over someone's tragedy, and their dead child? Sickening.
She was. What a fantastic soul.
That's all I ever felt and all that mattered to me.
I never could understand the reason for all the bashing she got :(
La seule véritable figure de proue, c'est soi-même!
I think that "doing good" is the trouble making. It's like Alan Watts said:
