Conceptually, they're still the same. I had a lot of fun reflecting on the show and playing wordsmith with this review.

There are so many quality bands out there, past, present and future that next to nobody knows about, that next to nobody listens to, and that's so very upsetting, the fact that I'll never find them, and so will no one else.

But I can change that for one band that I'm very passionate about, who broke up ... ages ago. Chalice. They're from Adelaide, where I'm from, and I wish I knew about them when they were a performing act. Their album, Chronicles of Dysphoria, is one of the best goth / doom / folk / metal / poetry inspired (they even turn an Oscar Wilde poem into a song) thing that I've ever experienced.

Would not recommend listening to it when already in a forlorn mood, but its a masterpiece, and emotionally so beautiful and whimsical, despite its subject matter.

We also had other bands of that era, and other strong female performers during that time, Goodrem, Imbrulgia, Bachelor Girl, and heaps of others I've probably forgotten about. I've always been drawn to the female voice in song.

And my love of lime cordial, too. My old manager was a merchandise marketing manager for some food distribution company, and complained bitterly that Adelaide apparently had the highest per capita demand for lime flavoured everything.

I blame the post-war immigrant population for making us this way (of which I'm a descendant) my grand parents were from a Cyprian / Anglo background.

Hahah my first long term boyfriend couldn't drink VB without lime cordial. I can't see either drink without thinking of him. I had no idea Adelaide had such a penchant for lime everything.

Thank goodness for the Greeks and Italians who brought lemon and lime trees to the south of Australia, though. Two are in my garden as a nod to that - I'll go as far as lime juice in water, but bright green lime cordial is a bit much.
