RE: My Mirror - Lyric Video

I've done video editing in a similar time slice manner to your clip for this track. It was so convulted and annoying with so many different alpha channels / masks (I work with stills mainly) that .. back in the early 2000s it nearly sent me into brain hell.

I had to work out (on paper) how I was going to slice frames based on the fps and what was going on in any given layer of video.

It worked, but man was it annoying back then. I'm sure the tools are better now, haha. :D

Super atmospheric track. I like the layered synth, and the vocals further back in the mix. Good use of tension and dissonance too :)

Maaaan editing this video has been a nightmare 😂 I'm not a videomaker and I don't know if there are some tools or some programs to do this work easily. I'm using Capcut and there's nothing so advanced there, so I had to cut everything manually and sync it. And Capcut can't even load the preview for how heavy the load was, so I had to render some short clips everytime to see what the result actually was. A fucking nightmare, but I've made it 😅

If you've got a PC (I hope ya do) or a Mac (that's okay) or run Linux (even better) - you can use DaVinci Resolve. its free (the advanced features that proper film makers would use are behind a pay wall) - but you can totally do 100% of what you've produced here in Resolve, and it would be a lot less painless on a mouse and keyboard.

I think you can even get Resolve on ipad these days too, its a fantastic piece of software. It isn't open source, but to me, its better than Adobe Premiere, and about on parity with Final Cut Pro.

Resolve does have a steepish learning curve, but I picked it up pretty quickly as I learned Final Cut Pro at uni, and it is VERY similar. There's also so many well produced YouTube vids on how to do stuff in Resolve as well.

Yes I used resolve in the past. I just went with capcut because for what I do it's easier and faster. Probably with Davinci this video editing would have been easier, but this is an exception. Usually I don't need resolve to do reels and tiktoks, you know

Yeah, its a bit overkill for shorter form content. I'm old, y'know, and I hate reels and tiktoks. I'd rather read half an essay in the same time. :D
