Hello hivians,
hello musiclovers!

this is our weekly interview post. We want to sharpen your senses for HIVE musicians, that´s why we made it our goal to interview a new musician every week.
There are a tremendous amount of very talented musicians on our HIVE Blockchain. Too many of them are going unnoticed. We at HMVF and Blocktunes are here to change that. Our interview series will let you get a look behind the curtain of some of these artists. Their music, their process, and their goals. Let us come together to support the music of HIVE.

Of course these posts will also have the purpose of collecting funds for HMVF, to be able to create as many music videos for these awesome artists as possible. 🎵
We wish you lot´s of fun with the interviews and consider supporting these awesome artists please!

This week´s musician is Valor Beats (@valorbeats)

We found this great artist through the PIZZA discord, where he posted his music in the music lounge. Valor Beats is an outstanding LoFi artist and you should definitely check out his music. It´s perfect for let it run while working and studying.

🎤 Enjoy the interview here!

First off, how did the artist name Valor Beats come about?

I knew I wanted to share my beats with the world so Beats of course felt natural to put into the name. Also thinking of marketing I also felt it would be good for SEO and ranking for such a thing so it made sense to me. Valor is a name I use often for things like gaming but I also love the meaning behind it which made Valor Beats the perfect name.

How would you describe your sound?

It's unique to me and I'm currently in the middle of figuring out what works and what doesn't. I started out with beat production with no lyrics which many people gave me feedback on saying it sounded like movie production tracks. Not a bad thing but wasn't really what I was expecting lol.

From there I started to move a little into lyrics and blending it into the beat to give it more depth. My most recent ventures have been lofi beats and spending more time with vocals in deep house and electronic type music. I enjoy the feelings and unique elements you can bring with the introduction of great vocals to really make a song pop it's just a more time consuming process.

Which artists have had the greatest influence on you?

For lofi it was Lofi Girl. If you think lofi you think of her works first and it's done very well!

What is your songwriting process? How does a song come together for Valor Beats?

It depends. At times I'll sit down and just start with a random short beat or try a few until it just hits me. From there the rest flows into the next itteration. I find it easier to block out a few hours till the track is complete and rarely leave and come back later. I've tried that before and found I have a difficult time brining the track together again and having to restart. Other times it can come from a unique sound from a song I heard which I feel would be cool with my own alternate flows and sounds to produce a unique track.

What do you hope that the listener takes away from your music?

I believe music is powerful. It has a huge impact on mood and is a part of so many other aspects of our lives. Growing up music often empowered me to push myself or lift up my mood and I hope others feel that when listening to my music.

How do you think being a part of the Hive blockchain will help your music career?

To be honest revenue. As a small time or new producer to streaming music you really make nothing to a few pennies when you first start launching music. You put in HOURS only to get $1 from streams and I know I started there. Hive gave me a way to generate some revenue but also reach an audience. I believe web3 like hive has HUGE potential for what it could do for music. I'd love to see a streaming application that pays per stream like this.

Share a tip for other hard-working artists out there searching for success in the new music industry?

I would highly recommend watching what other smaller but successful music artists do to promote their music or just jump into some groups with them and ask away. You need a rather strong skill set in marketing to push your music and go above what others are doing to start standing out.

What does the future hold for Valor Beats?

I'm still figuring that out. While I love doing it it's a side project for now unless I can earn enough from it. If it took off and produced enough income I would most likely focus up more on it. One thing I know for sure though is I'm going to continue to try new trends and beats. I'm debating many things at the moment
