Looking for New Glasses, Attending a Concert and Buying Groceries
Sample video of concert at the end
Yesterday was a very busy day.
@annaky needed new glasses and we headed to an optical store someone reccommended and which allegedly had low prices.
We walked to a bus stop. The store was located at Trébol mall (a mall that is now almost abandoned).
Puerto Ordaz does not escape this solid waste chaos.
Most malls that were popular in the 90s are now almost empty.
We got to the stop, took a bus and got off a few minutes later.
As I anticipated, the whole area looked deserted.
We were welcomed by some homeless guy sleeping by the entrance.
The store was closed, so we headed back immediately.
It was hot, but we really enjoyed the ride.
I took many pictures.
We went to Orinokia Mall which monopololizes most of the best businesses in town. This optical store had good deals in lenses and frames and Venezuelans' favorite credit option: Cashea.
We had to wait a bit for the eye test.
She tried some frames on.
And when she made up her mind, they called her for the test.
Her miopia is a bit worse, but her astigmatism is better.
After some issues with the down payment (they don't have change if you tey to pay with dollars--less people spending their $ Bulls now that there's a growing gap (25%) between Central Bank and black market exchange rate), we went to a drugstore.
On our way to the apartment, we stopped by the cocada girl.
These coconut shakes are really good.
The small cup is about $1.
In the afternoon, we headed to a local club for a classical music concert.
One of @annaky's classmates plays the flute for the regional orchestra and some of his classmates agreed to go support him.
We took a por puesto car (like a taxi but they can carry 4 passengers, each passengers pays a seat which is about $0.40)
No much traffic at 5 pm.
10 minutes later we were at the Italian-Venezuelan Center.
It was really hot (and it was past five).
@annaky found her classmates and they all sat together.
The place was cool, almost full and would be packed a few minutes late.
The concert started 30 minutes late, but it was totally worth it.
First the juvenile orchestra played there pieces.
We could tell they are very young and inexperience, but overall, they played very well.
Then the regional orchestra played 4 pieces. They sounded like pros.
Finally, the two orchestras merged for a final piece and it was amazing!
There they are...
Here is a link to a short sample of the concert.
Enjoy!

After the concert @annaky's went to play something, but we had to go back. It.was late and there was a final stop at the supermarket.
From there we walked to the apartment, which is near, bit feels very far when you're carrying bags of groceries.
We know kids want to do things, share with friends and make the best of their time together (especially when they are finishing HS), but sometimes we just have family duties and they also must be shared, especially when we are not sure when we can do that again.
