Our community's weekly live music celebration reaches musicians and listeners globally on a virtual stage, upholding the classic pattern of an open mic event. At the end of each week, we enjoy a community concert, highlighting a Spotlight Artist.

Our song circle is a place of belonging for anyone who appreciates live music. Our creative space offers a chance to build real relationships worldwide between music fans and musicians of every style and any skill level. Every contributor can be proud of the fact we are co-creating a more harmonious world by sharing the joys of music.

For the 135th week of Hive Open Mic, we will explore the following theme: "Fight Oppression." This theme is chosen by our community's recent Spotlight Artist: @indonesiabersatu Everyone is encouraged to express and connect through: Fight Oppression.

This week's Hive Open Mic theme is: “Fight Oppression.” This is a pressure-free invitation, encouraging us to explore new territory together as artists, sharing common ground as a community. Musicians always have full freedom to bring whatever music feels inspired in the moment. Here's a timeline, for anyone wishing to look back, be present, or prepare future entries.

How To Play

1. Produce - Introduce your video by saying the words, “Hive Open Mic Week [1],” including your name. Perform a song.
2. Present - Post your video in the Hive Open Mic community. Include the tag #openmic.
3. Promote - Share your link in the comments section of Sunday's open mic invitation in order to ensure your entry is heard.
4. Prosper - Build relationships by engaging with fellow music lovers through uplifting comments.

Show support by engaging with the musicians. The greatest gift we can give to an artist is our attention. For this reason, we humbly ask that everyone offer some friendly words. Reward musicians by offering applause as if we're in a pub, a coffee shop, or concert hall. Our comments might be the vital voice that gives a musician the wings to fly, or the gills to dive deep!

En éstos tiempos actuales muchos sufren de Opresión en muchas partes del mundo, el arte en todas sus formas y expresiones tiene la capacidad de liberarnos de ésa opresión, sobretodo, la opresión mental!!!

Much appreciated community, we have reached week 135 of our international live music event. This time the theme selected by our recent Spotlights Artists the band @indonesiabersatu is "Fight Oppression", a controversial theme, and, Unfortunately, always valid. I chose to participate with the song "Credo Nicaragüense", ("Nicaraguan Creed"), which was sung clandestinely in Nicaragua during the Anastasio Somoza dictatorship. It was composed (lyrics and music) by Carlos Mejía Godoy and is part of the "Nicaraguan Peasant Mass". Its lyrics are a denunciation where even ecological crimes are reflected ("and the forests mutilated by the criminal ax") and in which a God who is very close and sympathetic to the struggle of the oppressed is reflected ("You are resurrecting
in each arm that rises
to defend the people
of the exploitative domain. ") A controversial song about a controversial topic as well. I hope you like it.

This week our recent Spotlight Artists, the band @indonesiabersatu, propose the theme "Fight Oppression" (Fight against oppression) that has different readings. I focused on the oppression suffered by peoples who are under totalitarian regimes, be they civilian or military, declared, disguised, camouflaged or poorly disguised. It is not true that "the peoples have the governments they deserve", in history - both ancient and contemporary - there are many cases of noble peoples who found themselves under ladino, abusive, perverse governments that take advantage of their meekness, their weakness, but also history shows us that sooner or later these regimes end up falling. Like happens with the Roman Empire , the Third Reich, the Iron Curtain, the Russian Empire - both that of the Tsars and the other -. For this reason, I chose this song, a song of hope for these peoples since "although the river is very gentle, little by little it faces the sea"

Hola, mi querida comunidad, por motivos ajenos a mi voluntad estuve dos semanas sin pasar por acá, pero estoy nuevamente "en el ruedo" - gracias a Dios - Interesante a temática de esta semana propuesta por la banda @indonesiabersatu, ya que hay muchas formas de opresión y cada una tiene una manera diferente para ser erradicada. Siempre es una lucha y un proceso hacerlo, pero lo importante es que se puede. Ayer estuve grabando "con una pequeña ayuda de mis amigos" - como decían Los Beatles - y en unos momentos estaré publicando (Si no se va la luz) Mil bendiciones y éxito para todos.

Dear community, today I am active again after two weeks in which I could not record for reasons beyond my control. I was able to meet yesterday, Monday, with my colleagues from the Venezuelan Power Musical Group, rehearse, record and laugh a lot. With their collaboration I bring you the song "La Pistola" (The Gun) released in 1976 by the Venezuelan Hispanic vocalist Gloria Martin. I selected this song to go in harmony with the "Fight Oppression" theme proposed by our bandmates @indonesiabersatu, our recent Spotlight Artists.

Hi, @pinkhub,
Karaoke is not allowed in this event. But you have two options: the first would be to sing "a cappella", that is, without instrumental accompaniment. The second, getting a friend of yours who plays an instrument to accompany you.

Ahora tengo qué recuperar el tiempo, porque como apenas estoy aprendiendo, me hicieron daño todos estos días sin practicar Sin embargo, espero poder estar por acá para la semana 136.
