HIVENAIJA – AFRI-TUNES COLLAB AND CONTEST!

We are elated to be part of this wonderful time for our sister community, Afri-Tunes. Just in case you’re wondering who they are, Afri-Tunes are a community on Hive that is all about sharing the African experience through music. For more details head over to their community – a link will be provided at the end of this post.

THE CONTEST.

This contest is open to everyone, no matter your race or tribe. Afri-Tunes and HiveNaija wants to give the floor to not only singers but writers too. You don’t sing but you write? Then hop on and show us your creativity. The basic idea is to create a sense of unity in this time. So, what is expected of you?

For the contest, you get to pick a topic that centers around African music or the Afri-Tunes community. A video or a write-up? Doesn’t matter. Pick whichever suits you and show us your creativity. An idea of topics to write about?

• Favorite African Music or Genre
• Three favorite Nigerian songs or artist
• Favorite thing about or Hopes for the Afri-Tunes community
• A poem or fiction of tribute to the community on their Anniversary
• Special African numbers found on Hive? Tell us about them. How they made you feel.
• Have you attended a cultural event? Tell us about it (preferably with pictures)
• Experience with African music

Get creative. You can pick any of the above topics or come up with yours. Write or sing about it. It is up to you.

Prizes:

There will be two categories – Music & Writing – for the contest with a placement of 1st & 2nd Winners plus the Engagement Race with 1st, 2nd & 3rd placements.

MUSIC CATEGORY

1ST – 10 HIVE + 5 LEGION TOKENS + 5 LEO TOKENS + 150 ECENCY POINTS + 100 MUSIC TOKENS

2ND – 5 HIVE + 50 ECENCY POINTS + 50 MUSIC TOKENS

WRITING CATEGORY

1ST – 15 HIVE + 300 DREEM TOKENS + 3 HBI + 150 ECENCY POINTS + 100 HP DELEGATION (30 DAYS)

2ND – 7 HIVE + 150 DREEM TOKENS + 2 HBI + 50 ECENCY POINTS + 75 HP DELEGATION (30 DAYS)

THE ENGAGEMENT RACE

1ST – 5 HIVE & 300 ECENCY POINTS

2ND – 3 HIVE & 150 ECENCY POINTS

3RD – 2 HIVE & 100 ECENCY POINTS

These juicy prizes would be handed out by the Afri-Tunes community and sponsors to the above placements. But that is not all. Why is HiveNaija a part of this if Afri-Tunes is the host? I am glad you asked!

Afri-Tunes is holding this contest and it is natural that you would submit in the Afri-Tunes your entry. But…you can choose to submit your entry to the Hive-Naija community too and join OUR prize pool!

How do you mean?

Afri-Tunes would have their winners and we would also have ours! This means, you can win from both sides. It is totally allowed. You come first in Afri-Tunes and come first in HiveNaija with your entry, total victory. You come second in Afri-Tunes and first in HiveNaija, you’re on a roll! You win in engagement from Afri-tunes but come second in HiveNaija? Wow! Epic!

But how will we do that?

Well, you make your post directly to the HiveNaija community with the specified tags so as to be found by both communities and curators, following all rules laid down for a valid entry and submitting entry link in the comments of the contest post.

When is the Contest?!

The contest is to run from Friday 3rd March 2023 (00:00 GMT +1) to Thursday 9th March 2023 (23:59 GMT +1). Get your gears running!!

Rules:

• Subscribe to the HiveNaija and AFRI-TUNES community.
• One entry per person in one category (writing or singing)
• To qualify for the HiveNaija prize pool, post directly into the HiveNaija community
• Tags should be #hivenaija, #afritunes, #afriversary #music, #dreemport
• Include ‘AFRI-ANNIVERSARY’ in post title.
• Submit entry link in the comment section of this post and that of Afri-Tunes
• No plagiarism. Be original.
• Source pictures/Thumbnails.
• Minimum word count for writers is 500 and music is 250. Remember, quality over quantity. Follow the link to the community contest provided below for detailed information.
• Follow the rules of both communities and that of the contest

RESUMPTION OF PROMPT CONTESTS

This would take immediate effect a week after the anniversary celebration with our sister, Afri-Tunes. We hope to bring back the engagement and life of the community. Feel free to pop into the Discord server and get to know other members. Engagement is always key.

BUILDING THE COMMUNITY – CALLING ON SPONSORS/VOLUNTEERS

We do hope to build the community again. Given the current circumstances, it may prove difficult but nothing is impossible. The Admins and Moderators look forward to working with members and sponsors for the growth of the community.

Just like those who stood up to join in taking the reigns of this community, HiveNaija would appreciate any sponsorship no matter how little towards the community. We appreciate curators who don’t mind giving their attention to one or two post of quality from the community. We also appreciate those who join the curation trail of the HiveNaija community and every/any form of engagement.
