This is where I come from and I couldn't be more proud! Celebrating 50 years of El Sistema [Eng/Spa]

To think of my childhood is always to think of music and the System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, and it is because it changed my life, my family's life and not only mine, but that of many young people in Venezuela and beyond our borders.

Pensar en mi infancia siempre es pensar en la música y en El Sistema de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela, y es porque cambio mi vida, la de mi familia y no solo la de los míos, sino de muchos jóvenes en Venezuela y fuera de nuestras fronteras.

Celebrating 50 years with a mega concert was a real privilege and it was something wonderful for those of us who were part of it and those who were able to observe and listen to the magnitude of the music of an entire state, our state of Yaracuy in one place.

The 14 municipalities were present in the city of Independencia, Yaracuy, in La Cuidad Deportiva and make an event that marked a milestone by having more than 3000 musicians on stage, celebrating music and life, social change and the 50 years of our beloved "El Sistema".

Celebrar los 50 años con mega concierto fue un verdadero privilegio y fue algo maravilloso para los que fuimos parte y los que pudieron observar y escuchar la magnitud de la música de un estado completo, nuestro estado Yaracuy en un solo lugar.

Los 14 municipios dijeron presente en la cuidad de Independencia, Yaracuy, en el La Cuidad Deportiva y hacer un evento que marco un hito al tener a más 3000 músicos en escena, celebrando la música y la vida, el cambio social y los 50 años de nuestro amado "El Sistema".

It was very emotional for me to be present at this celebration, I had not been present at the previous one and to be present at this one was something very good for me. To see this new generation of young people making music and living a great experience playing together with many colleagues and classmates from other states is something like no other.

Sharing with my colleagues, music brothers, friendships that I had not seen for a long time and it was in this occasion was something that filled my heart and I will keep it for life, as well as being part of the new generation leaving footprints as a teacher, something that is giving me reasons every day to be better for each one of them.

Fue muy emotivo para mi estar presente en esta celebración, no lo había hecho en la anterior y estar presente en esta fue algo para mi muy bueno. Ver esta nueva generación de jóvenes haciendo música y viviendo una gran experiencia al tocar junto a muchos colegas y compañeros de otros estados es algo sin igual.

Compartir con mis colegas, hermanos de la música, amistades que tenia tiempo sin ver y fue dentro de esta ocasión fue algo que lleno mi corazón y lo guardare por toda la vida, así como también ser parte de la nueva generación dejando huellas como profesor, algo que me esta dando motivos todos los días de ser mejor para cada uno de ellos.

I did double duty that day, after leaving my students and colleagues set up to play I set out with my colleague and photographer brother Luis Reverom to take pictures to leave a mark on this great event in photographs that will last and from then on we will remember how funny it was.

Cumplí doble función ese día, después de dejar a mis alumnos y colegas instalados para tocar me propuse junto a mi colega y hermano fotógrafo Luis Reverom en hacer tomas para dejar marcado este gran evento en fotografías que perduren y a partir de allí recordemos lo gracioso que fue.

It was also a great experience and a double emotion for me, to be present in two things that move my life, music and photography, and to be able to do both in one place has no words.

Fue también una gran experiencia y doble emoción para mi, al estar presente en dos cosas que mueven mi vida, la música y la fotografía, y poder hacer las dos en un solo lugar no tiene palabras.

The Orchestra System in Yaracuy is one of the largest and strongest in the center west of the country and in this mega concert we made that clear, not only with the number of participants in action but also with all the organization and efficiency of the same.

El Sistema de Orquestas en Yaracuy es uno de los mas grandes y fuertes del centro occidente el país y en este mega concierto dejamos eso claro, no solo con la cantidad de participantes en acción sino también con toda la organización y la eficacia del mismo.

Taking pictures to show the small details of what was happening was also my job and you don't know how much I enjoyed it, to be moving in the middle of that mass of people and photographing what for obvious reasons was not so visible but I wanted that after all this event happened it would remain to remember and identify that it was there and we were there.

Hacer fotografías para mostrar los pequeños detalles de lo que estaba sucediendo fue también mi labor y no saben como me lo disfrute, estar moviendo en medio de esa masa de personas y fotografía lo que por obvias razones no se veía tanto pero quise que después de todo este evento pasara quedara para recodar e identificar que estuvo y estuvimos allí.

It is an indescribable emotion to be part of something as big as El Sistema and to be part every day of a change, of a way of life, of a transforming vision of music and of a dream come true.

Es una emoción indescriptible ser parte de algo tan grande como El Sistema y ser parte todos los días de un cambio, de una manera de vivir, de una visión de la música transformadora y de un sueño hecho realidad.

I have no words to thank so much, so much love, so much dedication, so much life and so much transforming music, thank you José Antonio Abreu, thank you to those who followed in his footsteps, thank you to those who maintain his vision, thank you El Sistema, thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times.

No tengo palabras para agradecer tanto, tanto amor, tanta dedicación, tanta vida y tanta música transformadora, gracias José Antonio Abreu, gracias a los que siguieron sus pasos, gracias a los que mantienen su visión, gracias El Sistema, gracias, mil gracias.
