Three Tune Tuesday - rock ballads

Hello dear rockin' Hiveans! For this episode of #threetunetuesday I'm going to soften up and talk about rock ballads.

If you don't know, Three Tune Tuesday is a format brought to us by @ablaze where we share a little selection of three songs bonded together by a theme. And today my chosen theme is Rock Ballads 💖

The most effective way to melt the rocky heart of a hard and pure rocker is to make him listen to his favorite ballad. By now there are so many and all of them are wonderful so making this selection was really difficult for me. Maybe I'll do this again in the future with a second part. In the meantime, here are my choices.

Is This Love by Whitesnake

Featured in the album 1984, it is one of the band's most successful songs along with Here I Go Again and Still of the Night.
Is This Love is about a man searching for true love. He feels so lost when his girl is away, an emotion that grows stronger as he's never felt before. He wonders if he has finally managed to find this true love.

What I like about this song is that, compared to other classic rock ballads, it doesn't have a strong crescendo and never becomes too aggressive. It always remains calm, maintaining a veil of melancholy, which together with the tenderness of the music takes away any sense of sadness, leaving room for romanticism instead.

Fly Away From Here by Aerosmith

Ok, Aerosmith are masters of ballads. They have included at least one, if not more, in each of their albums from 1973 to today. And there are so many albums and so many ballads, I could make 10 of these episodes just for them. I like some more, others less. Fly Away From Here is definitely one of my favorites.

Taken from the 2001 album Just Push Play, it falls within the style of Aerosmith post 90s, which is very different from the songwriting that the band had in the 70s, also because of the use of external authors. This has certainly contributed to modernizing the sound of the band and keeping it contemporary.

The theme remains the classic "let's run away together, no matter where" and I really have nothing special to say, it's just a wonderful song.

Like a Stone by Audioslave

Every time I get chills and strong emotions with this one. A song loved by Audioslave fans, by Cris Cornell fans and even by non-fans who only know this song from the band's discography.

A simple musical base, made special by the smart use of effects by guitarist Tom Morello. But the real protagonist is the sublime Cris' voice, who leaves us as a testament one of the most beautiful ballads ever written in the history of rock.

I've always loved Cris skill to write very poetic and cryptic lyrics. For this song I think he's talking about a man that feels all his regret for everything he's done wrong in life. And now that he's close to dying, he's trying to figure out if there's a way to be saved and go to heaven, or some kind of place where he can be forgiven and rest in peace. Or something like that, I don't know 😅

That's it for today 😁 I hope you enjoyed this heart-melting tears-flowing songs and I'd really like if you want to share your favorite ballad with me, rock or not 😘

Spoiler: I like so much "Is This Love" by Whitesnake that I decided to make a cover for the next week of the Vibes web3 contest. Wish me luck!

Hey, I make original music! Still not wrote a ballad though... but I have a bunch of pumping electronic rock songs if you like! Find out more on my website or on my Instagram

That first Audioslave album is good, but it does remind me a bit of Whitesnake in places. Whitesnake went through lots of changes and did well from the 'hair metal' thing when the guys had bigger hair than the ladies :)

Keep on rocking.

Both amazing albums for sure 😁

I know glam metal is not so appreciated now, but I always loved it as a genre. Whitesnake, Poison, Cinderella, Ratt. Also 80s Aerosmith had that glam style, at least esthetically

I could make like a dozen of TTT about rock ballads, but I don't think it's a good idea 😂
