The return of the Engelman
Hello #beer lovers!
Let's go to with another appointment of our beloved #beersaturday challenge, week 416 π»
I bring you another beer from Volfas - Engelman brewerie, a label I've already talked about in this post
Volfas Engelman is a brewery in Lithuania and it's the second largest brewery of the country. They make different types of beer but also other alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and energy drinks.
That time I tried a blanche beer and I quite enjoyed it even though it's not my favourite type of beer. This time we have the German version, a weiss beer. For those who don't know the difference: blanche is a Belgian style beer made from unmalted wheat, with some other ingredients added to "spice it up", such as citrus peels and coriander; weiss (or weitzen) is a German style beer made from malted wheat and a bit higher fermentation than the Belgian. Both are really light and easy to drink beers.
I personally prefer weizen beers and are the ones I drink the most during the summer. This one from Volfas - Engelman is pretty simple and straight-forward. Nothing peculiar to talk about. Just a simple, refreshing and enjoyable white beer π Maybe a bit lighter than the usual German ones.
To accompany my beer I had some pizza with pesto and cherry tomatoes. It's really good π
I was watching a YouTube video talking about musicians making content and how often the focus on trying to make "viral" content is higher than the effort on actually making good music. Gosh how's that so true... I'm thinking about this a lot in this period, probably I'll do a post about it.
For the music side, I'm deep diving into Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode discographies for study and inspirational purpose. Listening to all their albums, from the older to the most recent ones.
I skipped Depeche Mode first album because I know it's pretty pop and new wave. Their second is still quite like that. From the third we start hearing some industrial experimentations with real life samples, metallic noises and new interesting synth sounds. But I think Music for the Masses is the real transition album towards something more experimental and darker. It opens with this Never let me down again that became so popular in these recent years because it's included in an episode of The last of us TV series.
And then I think Nine Inch Nails (aka Trent Reznor) has been inspired a lot by Depeche Mode, becoming an extremely edgier version of the band. I hear it in the samples. Take Depeche Mode and put them in punk-anarchy mode and you have NIN. So inspiring for me.
Cheers, to the next beer and music post π»π§
Thanks for sharing the Depeche Mode tune. Not sure if I've heard it before. I'm more aware of their more popular songs. This one has a good slightly darker vibe.
