The Alt side of Vibes - my selection from week 29
It's time to bring some more visibility to alternative music on Hive, and what a better place to find it than the Vibes competition?
So I decided to scroll through all the entries of this week, looking for the dark side of the m... - I mean - of the Vibes ⛓
Well, among all the Celine Dion, Backstreets Boys and the usual tide of Christians and songs about Jesus "my lord and savior", I manage to find some black pearls. Turn off the lights, because we love our music like our coffee... darker ☠️
And let's start with the blackest of the entry: Black by Pearl Jam - performed by @albertocoachbl
Really solid singing here. Not a fan of the "sing into the phone mic" performances but I love this song so much that I had to close my eyes and deep dive into this masterpiece from the grunge era. Well done man, you gave me feels.
It's time to turn up to 11! Here we have Fear of the dark by Iron Maiden - a bass cover from @musicandreview
My man, let's gallop together on those strings 🤘 Iconic song in metal history, nothing to say, really. A safe shot for every metalhead out there. Great job, keep fingering that bass, it's a pretty useful skill in life, if you know what I mean 😎

Another big hit here. Actually I found two entries with this song and this is my favourite one of the two. Pretty straight and simple performance, good job man, but I'm sure you can do much better 💪 Good vibrato though ✌️

Man you have a really particular voice and I think it works perfectly with this song. I'm not a big fan of the pumpkins but everytime I hear this song it's always full yelling in my car. Great job!
Well, I can't really end the post without sharing my own entry, in case you haven't seen it
Disclaimer: it's not really a good voice performance form me. I was running out of time so I recorded the first take and that's it. I could have make it much better. On the other side, everything you hear in this version is made by me from scratch: the drums, the bass, the synths, the back vocals... everything. Zero sampling here. So it's been a full three days music production and the vocal performance is for sure the weakest part of the chain.
Well, end of the line. I hope you appreciated this alt side of the Vibes. This is not to add more competition, it's a celebration. For us all. Let's be proud together of what we're doing, knowing that probably is going to get less attention than the Celine Dions out there...
