My first live set

Hi, my Invisibles of the night
Last saturday I played live for the first time with this music project called Harbiter. For those who don't know me, I'm a musician and producer. I produce my own music from start to finish and I play live alone, with no band.

The event was called Obsidian, it's a dark techno night with two rooms -- one for techno/rave music, the other for darkwave and post-punk; a long list of djs and various performers, for the most doing shibari -- an artistic technique of tying people with ropes.
I was the opener performer and played at 11.30 PM, unfortunately when most people haven't arrived yet.

I must say that the hardest part has been all the week before the concert and for a specific reason: THE LIGHT SHOW.
Too bad I have no video of the exhibition to show you, but in a week I learn to program 6 lights with my computer and have them synced with the music so I could focus on playing and singing.
I've programmed these lights every day for a week while working a full time job and tried the whole show, with music and lights together, only the morning of that day! It's been exhausting but I've made it and everything worked perfectly 😁

In this live set I prepared my whole album and some cover songs, which are:

  • Precious - by Depeche Mode
  • Lucretia my reflection - by The Sisters of Mercy
  • After dark - by Mr.Kitty

I was afraid that some songs would have been too "chill" for this kind of event but the promoter told me it's been perfect this way so I'm really satisfied with how all the set worked out.
Some friends came to see me and hyped for me in the front row and this prompted the rest of the audience to come closer and enjoy the show.

As you can see from the pictures, I was locked into a cage 😅 That's actually the area where all the performers do their exhibition and is placed in the main rave room.

Errors could not be missing in all of this ahah

Some people said that the guitar volume was too low, and during a song I actually left the tuner on so my guitar wasn't coming out from the speakers 😬 but I play with most of my music coming from backing tracks in my computer where there is a bit of guitar too, so most of the people didn't even realize what happened. For the non musicians out there, you must know that when we play live we make a lot of mistakes that you don't even realize most of the time lol

Apart from this, everything worked fine. The audience was pretty happy about my show and I've gained some new fans for sure.

I'm glad to have played in this amazing location and event, with such a great audience that appreciate my music. Looking forward to the next concert now. I know some local bands that I want to play with and some good locations where to do it. I will keep the same songs set until I produce new music after the summer.

The cage reminds me of a certain Blues Brothers scene. I hope you enjoyed it. Performing live can be stressful and some elements may be out of your control, but it's all about the audience reaction.

Rock on!

I still haven't watched that movie yet and it's a serious miss for me, I know 😅🙃
Performing live it's like part of myself, I'm a little stressed before going up the stage. But when I'm on there, there's a fire that starts burning inside of me. I become deeply focused and almost don't even see the people in front of me.
I'm an addict to this ahah
