Dark Malta Festival - day 3

Last day of my alternative trip to Malta

I like the sea. I like do snorkeling. So here's another beach I went. This was really beautiful. The water was pretty cold but I kept moving.
Because last night I've been dancing to the after party until 2 AM, I needed this to refresh my brain and wake me up properly.

Some sunbathing, having lunch at the restaurant on the sea with some fish dishes and I'm ready to go. I have to hurry because I don't want to miss one of the few bands I know in the festival bill.

Here's the lineup for the third day:

CORLYX

I was really curious to see this band live, and my expectations were more than met. Singer Caitlin Stokes is a real sexy goth icon, amazing stage presence. I love their style that combines goth and glam rock aesthetics. The songs have a melancholic flavor and tread the ground of post-punk with a sexy twist that is really intriguing.

I missed the next band because I was busy talking to a French girl I met during the Corlyx concert 😏
I got back in time to see the second part of Priest show.

I listened to this band a couple of days before the festival and they immediately convinced me, especially the last album. A synthwave with a really interesting dark and dystopian side. Their show was very engaging and entertaining. I'm glad I was able to see them. One of my favorite bands of these three days.

Then comes the turn of Dawn of Ashes

They are not exactly what I'm looking for, too extreme and aggressive. I usually don't like scream and growl singing except in rare cases. I cannot deny that they have a very impressive stage presence, especially for the outfits, the face painting and the charisma of singer Kristof Bathory.
Everybody was really hyped up to see them and their show has been a peak moment of these three days of festival.

Next up would be headliners Combichrist but I decided to save that for another post since I saw them play a second time just ten days later in Bologna 😝

And so ends this crazy weekend on this beautiful island that was painted black for three days.
The festival is already planning the next edition in April 2026 and I have already read a couple of interesting names but I wanna wait to see the headliners announced to decide whether to go back next year.
In the meantime, I greet you with this view of Venice from above and see you in the next post dedicated to the band that blasted the entire venue, Combichrist. Pure energy and fireworks guaranteed 🔥
