Corruption

Corruption is the fourth song from my album Blinded in Chains.
It's a pretty simple song that I wrote in just minutes after I got the idea. This is also inspired by a guitar riff from "Where is justice?", a song from my former metal band Scyther.

This song comes before Thirst of Power and it's an introduction to the topic of power corrupting a person's mind until there's no going back. Greed is like a deadly virus. From the experiences we have in our everyday life, it seems like once you have it you cannot get rid of it anymore.

To create a "virusy" effect I've used some acid synthesizers and a rolling reese synthbass while I play the main riff with my bass guitar. Do you hear that plucky synth tickling your earholes? That's the virus crawling into your brain 😈

The voice begins by whispering the lyrics and then starts yelling, accompanied by the distorted guitars to create a crescendo. The pick moment is the bass solo where I went full on distortion.

To get it more disturbing, the song is played with a odd time signature, 5/4. A sick metal time signature in my opinion.
