A female inspired Three Tune Tuesday - Coldwave
Here I am with the second part I told I'd posted about three female fronted music acts, for #threetunetuesday. I said I would have chose some in the electronic genre, specifically Coldwave, that is some sort of minimal-techno-postpunk music, often related to modern goth clubbing.
Let's start with one of my all time favourite:
SIERRA VEINS
It's dark, it's deep, it's cyberpunk. Sierra Veins is just one single female dark techno producer from France that hits really hard. Gigantic bass pumps pushing into your guts, dissonant and distorted top synths, a dystopian industrial feeling. I wish I could see her playing live one day. There's no song from her that I don't love.
NNHMN
Let's move into a more classic post-punk sound with NNHMN. They're a German duo from Berlin and this is actually a perfect example of classic Coldwave. It's a sound that you easily associate with German or Eastern European electronic club music. Almost out of tune voice, typical of classic goth acts like Siouxsie and the Banshees; drum machine loops made with old school kinda 808 sounds; same for the repeptitive and minimal basslines; all topped with pads and high synths with a retro feeling and a ton of reverb and delay, just like if they're playing inside a cave during a full moon night, surrounded by candles.
DLINA VOLNY
We run on similar trails with Dlina Volny, a Belarusian darkwave trio that are getting pretty popular in this last couple years, touring all around Europe. Their name translates to "wavelenght" and in fact we have a predominant search for melodic phrases played by retro sounding and minimal synths. Even though this specific song sounds almost uplifting, they tend to move in the darker side of electronic music. Also here you can hear the typical goth style of singing.
That's all for now folks. Hope you enjoyed this little trip into European dark electronic soundscapes. I'm gonna think about another episode dedicated to female acts, going back to rock and metal... or maybe punk? Who knows!

Based on these, I think you would also like Chiasm, single woman doing everything musically, and Collide.
