One more week participating in #ThreeTuneTuesday, and it’s always a pleasure to share music with this community. Today, I wanted to do something special: share a selection of covers by artists paying tribute to The Cure — a band that has deeply influenced my musical taste.

These are not just any covers. Each one brings something unique while showing respect for the original work. Let’s get into it.

1️⃣ AFI – Just Like Heaven

AFI absolutely nailed this cover. They managed to keep the dreamy atmosphere of the original, yet added their own touch — especially that raw energy from their early hardcore punk roots. The balance between staying faithful and adding personality is spot on.

What makes this cover even more memorable is seeing Robert Smith himself smiling and approving during the performance. That moment speaks volumes about the quality and sincerity of AFI’s tribute.

2️⃣ Estados Alterados – A Forest (Spanish Cover)

This is what I’d call a hidden gem. This Spanish version of A Forest was recorded for a Latin American tribute compilation, and the band behind it — Estados Alterados — happens to be one of my favorite bands from Colombia.

They took a very different approach to the song, making it more experimental and electronic. It doesn't try to imitate the original, but instead transforms it while keeping the spirit alive. As someone who deeply loves both The Cure and Estados Alterados, hearing this crossover felt very special to me.

3️⃣ Mareux – The Perfect Girl

Now here’s a cover that became a modern darkwave hit. Mareux took The Perfect Girl and reimagined it so well that many people didn’t even know it was originally by The Cure!

Honestly, I’ll say it: in my opinion, this version surpasses the original. It’s hypnotic, melancholic, and incredibly addictive. You can’t help but put it on repeat. Mareux managed to turn it into a new classic in the darkwave scene.

This was my selection for this week — three artists from different backgrounds paying tribute to one of the greatest bands ever: The Cure. It’s always fascinating to see how songs can evolve and be reinterpreted through the lens of different genres, languages, and eras.

See you next week with more tunes to share!
Much love to everyone participating in #ThreeTuneTuesday 💿

For some circumstances I don't like rock... However, I enjoyed every musical selection you chose, although the last one “the perfect girl” caught my attention the most...

Thanks for sharing, a big hug!
