Have You Ever Heard . . .

During the lock downs of the COVID-19 pandemic, I spent a great deal of time watching music videos. During this time, I started watching "reaction" videos.

A reaction video has a person or a couple listening to music for the first time and reacting to the music. Although life has somewhat returned to "normal", I still enjoy watching reaction videos.

Just an observation, these reactions usually involve the same songs and artists at roughly the same time frame on different channels.

Do you think that it is a coordinated effort for a certain business model?

See how jaded I have become, not believing in any serendipity when it comes to "social media"?

Enough of the grumpy old man stuff, well not really. Recently, the planned and controlled spontaneous reactions have turned to one of the greatest performers of all time. I don not make this statement lightly. This woman received 11 Grammy Awards, 3 American Music Awards, 2 Academy of Country Music Awards and an Emmy Award. She sung in multiple genres, including Rock, Country, Folk, Latin and light opera.

What struck me is that no one in these reaction videos, most of whom are under 35 years of age had ever heard of this woman. It was akin to someone saying they never heard of Patsy Cline only worse.

Anyways, these "reactors" stated that they had never heard of the legendary Linda Ronstadt!

What????????

The first time I heard Linda Ronstadt, I was hanging out in one of my friends basement, think THE 70's Show, and yes hanging out in the basement was a real thing. We were all broke and had nowhere else to go and nothing else to do so we just hung out in the basement. His sister insisted on choosing the music. And that is when I heard her singing a cover of an Everly Brothers song.

Never heard of the Everly Brothers either I bet.

So Linda could rock with the best of them. Although, being a dude I would never in those days long gone by say I was a "fan" of Linda Ronstadt.

Linda showed her versatility with a haunting song of love forlorn. One of those perfect break up songs especially when you are the one left behind.

To say I became a fan would be an understatement. When I danced with the Mrs @handofzara for the first time on our wedding day, we chose a Linda Ronstadt song. A duet sung with Aaron Neville.

Funny how that worked out, from never admitting to being a "fan" to choosing this song, to be played for my first dance with the my lovely bride.

Well there you have it on #threetunetuesday, Linda Ronstadt.

Tell me you heard of her, right? Time goes by so quickly.
