Sepultura is a Brazilian heavy metal band formed in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais in 1984. The band currently consists of Derrick Green (vocals), Andreas Kisser (guitar), Paulo Jr. (bass), and Eloy Casagrande (drums).

The band's history began with the Cavalera brothers, Max and Igor, who formed the band in 1984. They released their first album, "Morbid Visions," in 1986, which gained local and international recognition. Sepultura became known in the global heavy metal scene in the 1990s, with albums like "Beneath the Remains," "Arise," and "Chaos A.D.," which helped them gain international recognition.

Sepultura is known for their unique approach to heavy metal, which includes a blend of thrash, death, groove, and traditional Brazilian music elements. They incorporate percussion instruments and Brazilian rhythms in their music, creating a distinctive and original sound. The band is also known for their technical skill, with Andreas Kisser considered one of the best metal guitarists in the world.

In addition to their music, Sepultura is known for their political and social message. Their lyrics often deal with social, political, and environmental issues, and the band uses their music and platform to raise awareness about these issues. They have been particularly active in the fight for the rights of indigenous peoples and the working class.

In 1996, Max Cavalera left the band amidst internal conflicts, but Sepultura continued with Derrick Green on vocals. Although Max's departure was a turning point for the band, they continued to evolve and experiment in their music, releasing albums like "Dante XXI" and "Machine Messiah."

Sepultura is considered one of the most influential bands in Brazilian metal and has a lasting legacy in the global heavy metal scene. Their unique approach to music and their political and social message continue to inspire fans worldwide.
