Three Important Tunes from my Wedding #TTT

I was married on July 2nd, 2022 to my husband Steve! We picked a cute venue that we could host both the service, and the reception at. Our wedding was outdoors, and like most weddings, went along without any of the numerous issues I worried over.

However, it was a bit off from your typical wedding. We did not have bridal parties, or an elaborate entrance. We kept things fairly simple. I made all of our decorations by hand, and in general tried to save lots of money that I probably didn't.😅

I think there is this thing called crafter denial...

You start by saving money, then you need one more thing, and then one more... Next thing you know, you've actually spent 20$ more than you would've just buying whatever it is outright, and done hours of work. It's great! At least everyone told me how nice the decorations looked. 😂

I walked down the aisle in tennis shoes, not that you could see them under my massive dress. My four-year-old refused to take photos with us (I have no idea why), and it was incredibly hot, but otherwise all went well! After a photo shoot and lots of giggles, we were ready to head into the reception and dance! These are the three songs that meant the most to me that day!

You may recognize this leading song from the cartoon network show Adventure Time. The show became special to us after our son was born. He had wicked bad colic, yet something about adventure time made him calm down. As he got older, he began to dance whenever the outro song would play, and our daughter would join along!

With so many fond memories of the tune, we picked it as our first dance song. It is cutesy and silly, and perfect for the marriage we have!



This song has remained a favorite around here, and when my son gets cranky, it is still known to save the day! Have you ever watched Adventure Time? It is one of those cartoons that passes off deep lessons in a perfect silly way, without overstepping the individual parents' boundaries. Sweet little lessons like "Don't give your sugar to jerks!", that may not be for everyone, but I love it!

Plus, the soundtrack to the show is truly good. It has this raw indie vibe that meets adorable seamlessly. One of the voice actors for the show does most of the music, and it's such a gift!



Next up we have a song that is personal to me, it represents what motherhood is about from my perspective. It has always been my song to my children, from my initial listen. So, naturally we danced with the kids to it!



In retrospect, maybe I ought to have picked something more upbeat... but this is the song that meant the most to me, and my husband did not suggest an alternative.

It seems really somber, but I think it's happy. It is about the point all mothers must come to with their children, the moment they need you to let go, so they can soar. My daughter has been fiercely independent since birth, so this was a lesson I learned strangely early.

In this tune, I find the beauty of truly unconditional love expressed. Just because I made you, does not mean you belong to me... just leave me some stardust to remember though, ok?



My last tune is one I will remember forever. It was my song to dance with my father to. My dad is an alien, there's no two ways about it. He is my alien though, and I love him very much!

When it came time for him to do his toast, this man pulled a piece of BREAD out of his SUIT! He said, "I was told I would need to do a toast?" the room went dead silent. Our humor is odd in this family, but I thought it was hilarious!

It is one of those moment which other brides might consider the "embarrassing part of the night" not this gal! I was proud of my dad for being who he is, he is very shy. His speech was the usual sweet words aside from that, and I think everyone took a collective breath of relief.

For our father daughter dance, my dad selected this jam, which is now a fav of mine!



There are too many great lines about the way a dad loves his daughter in this song to pick just one! If this plays, there is a 50/50 chance I will begin crying. Part of what made the song so special, was that my dad doesn't dance.

I watched him have an absolute panic attack, and I said, "Dad, no one can see you but me." and he smiled. We sang to each other, and I steadied him like he has steadied me. It was a one-of-a-kind moment for me!

I hope you enjoyed some of my wedding music, and that this post made sense. We are battling some evil virus here, and my brain feels a bit melted lol! Happy Three Tune Tuesday everyone!

Congratulations on the wedding.

And certainly I liked your narration of the event a lot, it was fresh, and I found it unexpected due to the twists, like what you say about your father, seriously, taking bread out of the suit at that moment would have left me frozen with surprise.

I've actually always been a fan of the adventure time theme song although, not as much as my mother. Not sure why, but she always just gets super emotional when she hears that little theme.

Regretfully, I've never heard the whole song before! The end credits of Adventure time always cuts it off midway...😆

Lol, you two have my lifetime respect now. Playing that as your first couple's dance song, that's just freaking silly and adorable!

Even better than the girl who once walked the aisle with the dark Vader theme playing in the background. Ha, that's badass.

Ahh... That boats and birds song is so bittersweet. Gives me a melancholic, tender, yet uneasy feeling inside if i'm being honest.

Well, I'm no scientist but uh... I believe so too. However, considering how adventure time significantly gets weirder as the series progresses, I'll suggest you skip a couple episodes or two with the kiddies. Might freak em out a bit °_°

Luckily for you. Imagine if you married someone other than your husband? WOW, would that have been awkward?

I have to say, for me, personally, Music is such a powerful memory trigger. I am in the car, and a song will come on, and it will trigger intense memories of specific people, or places, or a time in my past. Music does it for.

What a wonderful selection of songs, grindan 💗 Your wedding sounds like it was super fun and super special... and I love that it came with a sprinkling of silliness all round. That's called making memories 💞

I actually have not heard any of these songs... so I've just put them on and imagined the picture that you painted with your wedding stories as I listened. That dance with your dad, was so touching. I think I'd be crying every time too!

When my husband and I got married, we got married in our front garden with family and friends in attendance. It was just the right size... and we did a lot of it ourselves too and family and friends pitched in with decorating, doing the music, running the bar etc etc... but now I look back and remember it with such fond memories. !LUV !LADY !ALIVE

ps: oh and kids...lol... aren't they the best! Glad they at least danced with you guys even if you didn't get the pics...you got the memories hehe

Aah... the lurgy... my kids have been suffering too! Youngest has had tonsillitis twice in the last month - 2 different courses of antibiotics. Eldest is currently on a course of antibiotics as he hasn't been feeling great for the best part of a month after being off for a few days some weeks ago with headaches and vomiting. Touch wood everyone is on the mend now... Hope your fam are back to best... the sleepless nights are the worst not to mention seeing our little ones unwell and unhappy. !LUV

Boats & BIrds is gorgeous and what a lovely family song to choose, again I'd say there were tears and lots of ahhhhhs.

Your Dad sounds like a funny guy to me, with the bread in his pocket! Always best to be yourself I find in all areas of life. Nice song from Paul Simon, good pick from your old man.

So how long do American weddings go on for? Is it into the early hours, 4am, 5am that kind of thing or more 11pm/12am like English weddings often go?

Hey my friend! Sorry I haven't been in touch for a bit, we all took turns getting the flu here !LOLZ it's important to share with your family 😂

I always love hearing what you think of my tunes 😁 American weddings are usually early affairs at the venues they happen at, however we tend to party into the wee hours afterwards at a secondary location. Some people circumvent all the flair, and just get married at a rented location with lodging. Lots of parks have packages for that sort of thing.

As for me, I was asleep on my wedding night by 1 am 🤣 My husband and I took the kid free night as an opportunity to catch up on some sleep, which is damn romantic if you ask me 😂 !PIZZA !LUV
