'Song 77' - New Original Music - Video Jam...

a timed songwriting challenge, but I spent only 20/30 minutes total I think, from start to uploading the video, so I can pretend it was intentional, hehe. I started this with the steel tongue drum, through the Microcosm. The specific setting wound up creating a pitched, synthesized sound which sounded really cool, and only happened on certain notes above a certain velocity, so I was able to accent parts and create a cool line. The steel tongue drum is tuned to a major scale, but I wound up playing a line that felt like the Vii was our tonic, giving it a Phrygian sound.

the Leaf Audio Microphonic Soundbox, which has various percussive sounds; this and the drum went through the Astral Destiny and the Microcosm, and create the ambient, kinda creepy first half of this song. Then, a Digitakt beat comes in, just kicks/snares, then hi-hats, nothing crazy. I just jammed two Microfreak parts over this, the first of which is in Cmin (Cmin, Eb, Ab, then Cmin, Eb, Ab, and Fmin/Bb); the second moves between a C5 and a Dmaj chord, and that F#, G to A move in the D arp. adds a cool temporary dissonance, before we return to the first chord progression. Last up, I added an Ableton wavetable bass part, just to fill in the low end. Overall, this is a rough idea, definitely far from finished, and maybe the first half and second don't really mesh, BUT, it gave me some ideas to expand on, maybe redo... we'll see where it goes.
